I disagree with Snoop saying "get rid of the OLD" mufukkas who vote on the grammys and get some new young people. Chief Keef would have song of the year nshyt..lol

I dont know what I think about the Grammys anymore. Its not bad, Its not that good.

I think it represents what we all say about hip hop which is balance. Maybe expand the categories by one or two more awards. Maybe add an adult contemporary rap category to help a Snoop, Common, Krs or whoever...
As far as hiphop goes, it's only gotten better.
They used to go of strictly sales.

But all the award shows follow a similar pattern.

Look at BET hiphop awards, since 2006 Jay has 15 Kanye 11..
Besides in that case Wayne is there too with like 14 awards.

Bet awards wackness Breezy is the best of all time in that award together with Beyonce :dead: followed by Kanye, Wayne and then Jay/Minaj/Kast/missy/Alicia.
And nominations is 1. Bey 2. Jay 3. Kanye

Looking at any award is all dominated by Jay/Kanye/Eminem(Eminem is underrepresented in BET of course).

Wrote about this in February after the last Grammy awards

An Opinion Piece On The Continued Degradation Of Hip Hop’s Cultural Impact And Importance

Last night the 55th Annual Grammy Awards was televised. In what has been christened the defining ceremony to award the music industry’s brightest, most accomplished, and most talented, the program aired to an estimated 28.37 million viewers. Many of music’s highest profile celebrities were on hand, the gorgeous Jennifer Lopez strutting her thigh across the red carpet. R&B’s edgy royalty Chris Brown and Rihanna cozily sitting hand in hand in the front row. Taylor Swift representing her wholesome brand of pained country longing with a wide smile and a twinkling eye. The Grammys kicked off without any major hitches, with performances from Maroon 5, Alicia Keyes, Miguel, Frank Ocean, and the pop group Fun. There was however, one crucial element missing from the festivities….

Snoop is GOAT Juan Epstien guest. Everytime he appears he delivers a classic gem. His rant on the grammys was great.

Ghostface/Mary J. should have definitely won a grammy for this song. shyt gives me chills everytime i hear it....:wow: they dropped the ball on this one for real :snoop:

Was it better than [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VMYAEHE2GrM"]Bone Thugs N Harmony - Crossroads - YouTube[/ame]

:mjpls:

Well imo it was, but classic status vs classic status is not comparable.

Bringing up the "Best Rap Album" award is a red herring..Because the Grammy has been recognizing and awarding rap since 1989....Every name I listed was prominent then...
No, my barometer of 1996, is better than this ridiculous historical point you try to paint knowing very well that they were literally awarding oneor a couple a year for about 8 years. It is mathematically impossible for all those people to have won. By the time multiple categories related to hip hop was a fixture at the Grammys, those people were no longer relevant. There is no need to create false realities to make your point. I mean even the award you mentioned in 1989 was awarded only once again before 2012.

Every album Kanye West has ever released has won the award for best rap album and every album Eminem released besides Encore won the award..This isn't just a numbers game of them showing up so much they have higher odds.. They can sh1t on wax and chances are they will be the awarded best rap album/song of the year by default..

Facts don't bear this. Like I said before about always being there: if you're are putting up popular records every year with critical acclaim and keep getting nominated, eventually, (unless you fukk up like T.I. and go to jail. I don't know if he's won any Grammys, but he was getting major performances at the Grammys and he had the hype...the win was inevitable) you're going to win.

You can't point to a single year where either Jay-Z or Kanye undeservedly won given the competition in their categories. KC = 0 awards. Justifiably. There is no clear egregious victory. I already addressed Em, so that was a waste.

By your logic, Snoop with his 15 nominations should atleast have 1 for his constant presence...

No, by your misinterpreted logic. Tell me what was so "constant" about Snoop that he was destined to win one. Being known everywhere doesn't mean you were dropping an album every year like Jay or getting nominated every year. Snoop was nominated for Drop It Like It's Hot and then wasn't nominated again for rap song of the year until years later for Sexual Eruption. If you don't follow the awards or know the history I have no idea why you felt as though you could make critical commentary.

It's not all relative.. It's nonsensical...It seems to be biased or corrupt more than any other category...

Yet, you have nothing you can use to justify it outside of Eminem. The best argument for your point was made by me :dead: when I said that the biggest mistakes they make often is who gets nominated in the first place. But once they do nominate people, sans Em, they usually make the right pick out of the list. I've critiqued the Grammys before for snubbing in nominations, (I.E. One Mic) but you're not making much sense with yours.

Note: you're making pretty bad arguments when I'm in a position of defending the Grammys.

You're not defending the Grammy's...Your defending the notion that the critical acclaim of your favorite artists are deserved and justified.. Any reasonable person from an unbiased perspective can look at the 50 to 0 score card and admit that something seems unethical.. Take away every name on my list and just cherry pick a top 3. Then compare their success rate to Em, Jay and Kanye and its still 50-0...

In all the typing you did you never articulated a point why that's fair or reasonable...

Its similar to how The Sopranos received over 100 Emmy wins and The Wire received none..
I heard the same lame explanations from voters and critics but the reality is they were just lazy and uninformed so they took the road most traveled...
