Grammy's are a joke, no one takes them seriously even outside of Hip Hop. Easily the least respected "major" performing arts award.

Maybe you don't know what refute means..

I made the thread based on two facts....

Em, Jay and Kanye have 50 Grammy's....Fact..

All the other artist I named have 0.... Fact..

Nothing you have said refuted that..All you did was attempt to rationalize why those results make sense to YOU...

I agree with pretty much all of this EXCEPT for Graduation being better than Finding Forever. Finding Forever was MUCH better lyrically and conceptually in my opinion. I like HHID over Graduation as well but in wouldn't necessarily say its a BETTER album, I just prefer one over he other. I'd give both HHID and Graduation 4 mics and FF 4.5, But that's just a fan opinion.

I also understand the argument on Daughters and NIP being two different songs, which is why my my own argument on the matter is that NIP was deserving of its Best Rap PERFORMANCE award while not deserving Best rap SONG. The Rap Song category is a writer's award and Daughters was the better written song with a more poignant and emotionally honest theme. This is part of my problem with the Grammy's. There is no fair divide amongst the categories. To say that NIP is the BEST writing that a rap artist can conjure sets a dangerous and insulting precedence for the culture. NIP is very formulaic and repetitious (this is not to say its bad, its a good song but its CLEARLY meant to be lyrically simple) and does NOT equate well to the best writing that either Hov or Yeezy did on that album. I'd find it a much better representation of Hip Hop as a WHOLE if the songs clearly meant as deeper representations of the culture were rewarded writer's awards while the better PERFORMED songs revived the performance award. If you listen to both songs back to back its clear which of them were more deserving of this particular award...

I thought FF tried to recreate Be and was a little short. Common got his Grammy anyway because they gave them one for Southside :yeshrug:

As far as "Best Rap Song" being a songwriter's award, it never really has been. You can kind of track the history of hip hop grammys and predict who will win in certain categories. But not this one, it's weird. It's really the only award that I can't predict in the hip hop category to any degree at all. I mean originally it looked like it would be given to the most "unique" song in a category (Lose Yourself, Jesus Walks). But then they swerved and gave it to Luda for Money Maker in 06 and hasn't made sense ever since then. It's like it became an award just for chart hits, and in that sense I guess NIP had to win :dwillhuh: but it just never makes sense because often the winner of that award will also win for other songs that night and the other song will be better than that song.

I mean was "Lollipop" better than "A Milli" and NIP better than "No Church..." that award might be the most nonsensical and indefensible hip hop grammy. I think these cats might just sit in a room with no objective criteria and pick their favorite song out of the group :dwillhuh:

My Pops Forever RIP
I stopped watching the Grammys 5 years ago and I can't stand them. How bout that Grammy snub this year? Drakes 2011 album winning a 2012 Grammy over Life is Good by Nas. Take Care was barely HipHop but I'm asleep

:mindblown:

It's not done by calendar year. They have a timeframe for when you're nominated. Drake missed the 2012 cutoff, which is why he was nominated in 2013.

It's this ridiculous attitude by hip-hop fans that somehow validation of any kind other than the love from the streets is not needed or necessary.
