its talking quality. quite franky, its just refreshing to see a prominent rap critic not just automatically jock jay.

Bad article, seems like he got snuffed by Jay back in the days.
Too much "ad-hominem in regards to the art", too much talking about what Jay-z likes (how the fukk would he know that Jay-z like the soundtrack), too many opinions on what he should've done and could've done.

He also thinks Vol.3. is better than Reasonable Doubt so much for hiphop journalist, the album might've only had 1 hiphop song (out of 15 and 2 of 20 on the deluxe) so Idk what hiphop has to do with anything.

As far as the soundtrack and movie goes, Sountrack was 2.5 mics, maybe 3 on a good day. And movie was 3 mics.
In other words, very average. Everything this dude is talking about is .

Sales wise it's a success

Taste is subjective so you can't really call it a failure. Right now it has a 63% on metacritic which is pretty good considering its a movie soundtrack. Is that normal for these types of albums?

this article is reaching. i thought the soundtrack fit well with the movie, it wasn't supposed to be some sort of revolutionary innovation in music anyway, it was a good OST to supplement baz luhrmann's film style + the movie
