idk why he would do that
the song was dope. But Jay has songs with better performances/verses better than that

then again this was Jay coming out of retirement so i can understand his doubt. Given he prolly thought he was rusty.

Because Wayne was hopping on some of his records and killing them in ways he hadn't seen before. Wayne was easily out flowing that nikka on his remixes and hitting us with wild new flows and rhyme styles.

I think that period was one of the rare times where there was a big new rapper that was not only completely different but also lyrically capable and making multiple, amazing records across different styles in an incredibly short time

Like nikkas either forget that da drought 3 was almost 2 hours long with 29 songs of straight remixes or don't understand just how insane that is. 29 remixes with new flows on them that ended up completely overshadowing the originals. And that's on top of him appearing on damn near every rap or R&B or Pop song around that time and killing all of those too.

And then like 3 months later damn near his entire album leaked with the da drought is over 2 with 19 songs of fire, but then he followed that up with the leak with 5 more songs of fire

Idc how confident you are with your skills, that shyt had to have everybody shook a lil. Especially if you consider yourself the God MC.

Wayne selling a million first week the year later, even after his album leaked 10 days early solidified it. Wayne outsold Jay's retirement album and comeback combined.

All while proudly calling himself the best rapper alive as a challenge

Facts

I remember how Wayne was so left field voice flow and rap wise that people HATED him because he wasn't traditional.
