Nikkas trying to rewrite history because of their dislike of Jay. I don't remember anyone saying it was wack in real time lol
Yeah Hovi Baby has always gotten love from what I've seen. Now the album itself had mixed reviews but this thread is literally the first place I saw where people said the beat was trash :russ:

Are you implying nikkas don't talk about hip hop in the barbershop, btw? :mjlol:

pardon me if i wasnt clear

im tripping off of Hovi Baby being presented as if its some artifact where one would be "laughed out the barbershop " if they were to challenge it

Never trust talking points on here that you've never heard in real life. BP2 being lackluster isn't a wild take. I've never heard a negative word about Hovi Baby. Not even amongst the biggest Nas stans I know. When it comes to certain topics, this is a safe space for a ridiculously small minority of people to say wild shyt without getting laughed out of the barbershop/bar/barbecue/social gathering.

It's is some wild shyt there was a few wack songs on the blueprint 2 but hovi baby wasnt one of them to me... :manny:

Jiggermayne skated on that song/beat. He is one of the only rappers who could’ve rode that beat.

BP2 is The most JayZ-ish of all Jay-Z albums IMO, for better or worse. Usually, Jay is the epitome of In The Moment Rapping.
He is a hipster. Most of his music doesn’t sound the same years later, because it was made for a specific moment in time.

But BP2 was his victory lap after BP1, and it seemed like he was trying to give us some “timeless” music.
It is definitely his most varied album musically. But…that’s not him. Jigga is not Mr. Replay Value, he is “want that old chit, buy my old album”

These guys keep exposing that they are lames in real life. Then when you see the amount of time they dedicate to weird shyt on here it starts to make sense.

This right here.

N*ggas see Jay in the news today, get mad and run here to make up threads trying to rewrite history.

This track was one of his best joints around that time. Flow was crazy, rhymes were dope, beat was insane, etc. 23+ years later, they're still hating on this dude's success. Sh*t is wild corny.
