Black album was Jay-Z's peak as far as being the GUY in rap
as far Eminem, I lost all respect for him as an MC when he said he was scared of Lil Wayne and Kanye West, and didn't want to diss them.
Eminem dissed benzino and ja rule, as well as a bunch of nobodies, but wouldn't pull the trigger of then talking about his career would've been over, and then put that shyt in a song.

Oh yeah here is another stat....

From 2002-2005 Shady/Aftermath/G-Unit was RUNNING shyt!..it was the dynasty that Hov NEVER had...

-Though out the whole label, in just a 4 year span they had EIGHT number one albums (The Eminem Show, 8 Mile Soundtrack, Get Rich Or Die Tryin, D-12 World, Encore, The Massacre, Hunger For Me, & The Documentary)
-They had the 3 Invasion compilation mixtapes by DJ Green Lantern that had the hip-hop world BUZZING
-They had the biggest tour with the Anger Management tour
-Em had the biggest movie of the year with 8 Mile
-Damn near EVERY artist on the label from that time went Platnium..gold at the LEAST! :wow:
-on the cover of every major hip-hop and music magazine..
-they were RUNNING shyt!

The only 2 people running shyt over at Roc-A-Fella was Hov and Ye...Dipset had that lil run..but it just stayed local....

So...WHAT Dynasty was Hov talking about?....:mjpls:

#FactsOnly

Shady/Aftermath/G-Unit had more impressive numbers than the Roc cause they had more cac fans, pure and simple. Cacs don't get to decide who wears the crown unless you wanna count MC Hammer and Vanilla Ice as the kings of rap in 1990.

Fact is while Em and 50 were dominating the charts and goin plat in a week, Jay was really the one still runnin hip hop. Everyone who lived that era would tell you the same thing. Within the confines of HIP HOP... Jay was top dawg.

Sales = Cacs

If you think Em and 50 dropped more classic hip hop music from that 2001-2004 time period than Hov did, you're gassed outta your fukkin mind. Em and 50's biggest hits were cac hits. No offense to cacs. Just sayin the majority of them are casual listeners.

In the realm of RAP MUSIC, Hov was still top dawg. Every song off Blueprint is a bonafide classic. People hear the first 5 seconds of U Don't Know and they lose their damn minds. Takeover. Izzo. Song Cry. Girls Girls Girls. Hola Hovito. Heart Of The City. Public Service Announcement. Dirt Off Your Shoulders. 99 Problems. Encore... these are fukkin classic tracks that everyone knows. If I say if you havin girl problems I feel bad for you son and then tell you to fill in the blank.... everyone in the world could finish the rest of that rhyme.

Em was killin it in 8 Mile and with the Lose Yourself joint, and yea Fif was an unstoppable commercial juggernaut but he wasn't blessin the game with timeless classics like Hov was. 50 couldn't even perform those same songs in front of a high school gymnasium right now whereas Hov is still goin strong and coastin off what he did during that same time period.

50 was like Uncle Junior and Jay was Tony. Uncle Junior had the official title of boss of the family but Tony was the one runnin shyt and controllin the capos. That's Hov. While Em and 50 were out destroying the charts and crossin over into cac territory, Hov was the one holdin it down for rap music. No other rapper has supplied the game with more timeless hits. NOBODY.

so your sayin jays 12 #1 albums are because of cacs?

I don't give a shyt about the numbers honestly. Yea no doubt Jay is where he's at partially due to cacs.

I'm talkin overall relevance in the game. Even when others were outsellin him, nobody has ever been more relevant in rap music than Hov has. I don't care how it charted or how many cacs requested him on TRL... within the realm of rap music Hov was always in the mix. Always had the hottest song out. Always dropped a classic verse. Always made his presence felt. Evey era dating back to like 97-98... Hov left his mark in a huge fukkin way. nikka was the soundtrack to every party, every club... every car you hopped in and out of back as a teenager... nikka's music was the soundtrack to your life.

If you put on any rap radio station, chances are you will hear a Hov before you will any other rapper. And you will hear Hov MORE than you will any other rapper. You might not even hear a single 50 song before the day is done.

:snoop:

I was talkin about that 01-04 period when people were claimin Em and 50 were the #1 rappers.

And puttin Justin on the hook has nothin to do with it. Lemme ask you a question what would happen if Justin hopped on a song with 50? Does it go #1? Or what about Nelly? Tell me smart one... if the key to a hit song on the radio is a hook from Justin Timberlake... then why can't other nikkas do it?

You know why? Cause they ain't Jay-Z.

Whether it's Alicia Keys, Rihanna, Justin, it don't matter. Those are still Jay-Z songs. Yea Holy Grail is a hit cause it got Justin on it but it's also a hit cause it got Jay-Z on it. That's the other half of the equation. Justin Timberlake and 50 Cent on a song together in 2013 wouldn't do dikk.

Try and leave the house without hearing a Jay-Z song. Unless you avoid a radio for the entire day, you literally can't do it. That's how much of a mark this man has left on hip hop and mainstream music in general. The guy is a fukkin force of nature. No other rapper has even come close.

You got fukkin corny ass muthafukkas in the burbs talkin bout they don't pop molly they rock tom ford. And a year from now when that shyt ain't poppin no more, he's gonna have a new hit ready to go. He always does. Music biz's #1 supplier.
