Jay-Z is the Wilt Chamberlain of Rap, and selling a mill in a week is his 100pt game

First off most of ya'll be the same nikkas talking that "album sales don't mean nothing". Then Jay-Z makes a deal to line his pockets and ya'll all .

He sold 1 million copies to Samsung (and had them pay for his promotion), they choose to give away 1 million copies, the album was heavily bootlegged and he still sold 500,000 (gold) the first week...with no single!!

Let me guess though...he shouldn't have made a smart business decision because it ruins the art huh :shaq2:.

1. that's a generalization. The whole sale doesn't matter thing, I'm not a member of that crowd. Sales may not matter in whether the content on an album is dope or not, but they are pretty significant in the fact that you can gauge which artists are really poppin in the grand scheme, and who only appeals to niche crowds. Don't get me wrong, Jay is still looking to do impressive numbers. More than any hip hop album has done this year, and that's without the mil.

2. It was indeed a smart business decision, and I'm not faulting him for that. Jay-Z is a great business mind, WE ALL KNOW AND ACKNOWLEDGE THIS. With that said, Jay is

you can't have your cake and eat it too. he made it to the 1.5 mill in a week mark but 1 million from that was paid for by Samsung. You expect people not to point that out? LOL get real

:comeon:

Yeah of course people are gonna point that out, I can fill up the front page if I upped every thread that pointed that out. It's like each of ya'll try to attack it from a different angle.

Your on some...

You: :lupe:

(1 week later)

You: I got it :krs:

You: Jay-Z is the Wilt Chamberlain of Hip-Hop :obama:

Me: :rudy:

I get it though you feel like some how it's scamming the system. To me though it's a :deadhorse:. Anybody would do this if they could!! You gonna turn down a company wanting to buy 1 million of your records @ $5 dollars a pop (while paying for the promotion of your album) :aicmon:.

Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven
Let's face it people, I think Jay is a great artist and all but if Jay did not have the millions of cash on hand and if was not a business genius, do you really think he would have sold that many albums? Dude got a "Corporation" to purchase the music, not the fans.

Now selling 500,000 thousand or whatever the number is, is an amazing feat because of the fans. But a corporation buying a million records is just a business deal.

On a related note: I just purchased the Black Album yesterday as the album has finally grown on me :krs:

If he sold 500k a week after releasing the album to 1 million people for free.... Plus the fact it was leaked for a week

If none of that happened and it dropped as a regular release... Wouldn't he have sold more than 500k anyway?

If anything it shows people are nothing more then sheep. Jayz basically sold people an advertisement album.
