To answer a few questions asked here.

- Live Nation partnered with Jay in 2008 to create Roc Nation
- Roc Nation is a full-service entertainment company, inclusive of artist, songwriter, producer and engineer management; music publishing; touring & merchandising; film & television; new business ventures; and a music label.
- The roster has: Rihanna, Shakira, J Cole, Rita Ora, Calvin Harris, NO ID, Timbaland, Solange, M.I.A., Santigold, deadmau5, Wale, and more.
- The Record label is called Star Roc
- Previously, the company released records with Sony Music Entertainment...I assume going forward this will be Universal.
- A Few weeks ago, Roc Nation formed a new sports management division, Roc Nation Sports.
- Roc Nation sports will basically act like an agent

Cats need some deeper knowledge in matter before they speak on them.
Roc-Nation is a company owns a little indie label that sets up different platform for different artists some are indie some Sony (or their subsidiary Columbia). They also own a indie subsidiary label in Europe. And a management company that does everything from conservative management to connecting managed artists, with managed producers, song writers etc, setting up their tours, co-AR:ing albums with other labels and more.. They also own stakes in other companies for example one that manages EDM artists.. They also link these artists up with endorsements through Jay and Stoutes Ad-company (Translation * Advertising. Marketing. Branding. Consulting), tours with Live Nation and more.

The whole process is a lot bigger and complex than some fukkheads in this thread think.

This is all quite relevant as far as hiphop goes though, but cats need to get their shyt straight before posting.

So basically, Universal will handle the Roc Nation artists' albums while Live Nation will still do the tours, right?

If the former is true, I wonder how that works for the managed artists that are not signed directly to the label, like Melanie Fiona, Wale & others.

That's what it looks like, I'm waiting for the details about how the move will affect different divisions of the company.

A lil funny thing is that Jay paid Doug Morris money to leave Universal and took his business to Sony. Then Doug Morris went to Sony and Jay started releasing projects on Universal and now he's taking his business back to Universal (no conspiracy).

In April 2008, Live Nation partnered with Jay-Z to create Roc Nation.[1][2][3] Roc Nation has a record label named Star Roc and an entertainment company named Takeover Roc Nation, located in the United Kingdom, and it also covers Europe; the company releases records with Sony Music Entertainment and partners with Live Nation.[4][5]
In 2008 American hip hop artist Jay-Z and Norwegian songwriters-producers Mikkel S. Eriksen and Tor Erik Hermansen of the production duo Stargate formed the label "Star Roc". The label is a 50/50 partnership between Stargate and Jay-Z's Roc Nation entertainment company, which he signed in the same year to Live Nation. StarRoc is headquartered at Jay-Z's recording studio, Roc the Mic, in Manhattan, New York City, United States.[6][7][8][9]

Stargate is a Norwegian record producing and songwriting team, composed of Tor Erik Hermansen (born 14 October 1972) and Mikkel Storleer Eriksen (born in 1972), based in New York City. The team's genres include R&B, pop and hip hop. Stargate was established in Trondheim, Norway.
Stargate broke into the American recording industry in 2006, with the release of the Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 single, "So Sick", produced and co-written by the team and performed by singer Ne-Yo. They also produced and co-wrote with singer Beyoncé Knowles her worldwide hit single "Irreplaceable"

9/10 artist under roc nation were signed in 09/10 and they havent done shyt... 3 or 4 years aint enough to develop an artist?[/QUOTE]

That's because they're probably ghost writers :youngsabo:

Anyway, this deal is probably a multi-$100 million dollar deal. This puts RocNation on the same level of Cash Money and potentially the same level as Interscope because they are both directly under the Universal umbrella. A major move indeed :ehh:
