Disagree...all those that you mentioned had one or two parts, but not the whole list that I mentioned.

Jay in 98/99-2003 pretty much was the standard blue print. Diddy and Bad Boy was a close second.

I think people are confusing recordnsales with being a global brand. X, Em, Nore etc put out hits as artists, but as a business Rocafella and Bad Boy were on top. Anyone who could get on--dreamed of being a part of those teams

Bad Boy wasn't second to Roc A Fella. The Roc didn't start to fully flourish until like 2002-2003. Meanwhile, even after Biggie died and Mase left, Bad Boy had Black Rob and Shyne. In regard to the Roc, Bleek struggled. Amil was whatever. Beanie Sigel was the only one who had a strong showing up until Cam. Then they jad the Dips and State Prop and then Kanye.

No Limit, CMR, and Ruff Ryders were bigger than Roc-a-Fella for a few years.

I think you're limiting your scope to simply music. I'm referring to a brand that includes music, movies, clothes, clubs and liquor. No other label had this all going at once while in top. Sure you had RR, CMR, No Limit etc but they were really just big for music only. So if you're saying that all of those labels had certain hits and were on top at one time or another for half a year or so--I might agree. But if you're saying that they were as diversely successful as a name brand business--then i disagree. I think The Roc were the first to think outside of the box on this.

The Roc from what I can remember were the only ones expanding outside of rap and clothing and Jay and Dame were the face of it all. Diddy was next in line. They were game changers in how artists thought about "business." They were on top for a good 5 years with that until Jay and Dame separated.
