And kendrick is being praised for dropping his 3rd classic this year :ohhh:

Not only hes dominated QUALITY wise, but also commercially

he did it again, one of the highest rated albums in any genre, of all time :wow:

combined with :wow:

-Damn is the best selling album of 2017, in any genre (the billboard charts ended in november so the taylor swift album doesn't count)
-Damn is the most acclaimed album of 2017
- Humble is the 2nd best selling single of 2017
-Humble went #1
-DNA went #4
-Love is slowly ranking up as we speak, and it's about to top the urban and rhythmic radio. It also cracked not so long ago, with no video, no promo, only streaming demand. Interscope then decided to send the song to pop radio

humblke was already 4x platinum months ago

no wonder why so many artists are already considering kendrick one of the greatest artists and musicians of all time, he gave us 3 flawless albums (objectively speakingh) in a row, thats unheard of :ohhh:

and now hes beating all these pop stars by selling more than them :ohhh:

we won, great music is finally dominating :ohhh:

Kendrick's year is so ahead of anyone else than U2 is even performing at SNL with a kendrick cartoon in the background :wow:

when the highlight of your performance is a video of the greatest artist alive :wow:

Great thread!!! Funny too.

As a dj and an OG. It's crazy to see how the qualifications of running the rap game has changed.

One of my most telling qualifiers is dominating Black night clubs. Em has never gotten a lot of club play. Never. Em was popular bcuz CACs pushed him hard.

I think maybe a more interesting topic of discussion is how impressive it is that before the age of social media and the internet, Jay was able to take basically 3-4 years on top (or close to it even if you don't think he was #1) and frame it in 2003 like he had basically had a career like Michael Jordan.

It worked, and even people that weren't big Jay fans (from my memory at least) didn't ever argue with it very much.

Hov prolly the GOAT at controlling perception of himself/career TBH

She gave Drake 2011-2017!? :mjlol: If she can't even tell us who is running rap in this current climate (Kendrick)....then why would I believe her about the past? And most importantly who is this chick?

Nah between 98-2003 Jay was the top gun celebrity wise in rap.

Rockafella Records (albums plus State Prop, Ye etc)
40/40 club
Box office movies
liquor
clothing line
huge stadium concert tours

All that stuff was basically unheard of for an artists to do in those days...they changed the game completely.
