I LIVE IN A CARDBOARD BOX!
So then why are we 10 pages deep? :wtf:

Because Jay-Z is a popular rapper to talk about on this forum? You could probably make a thread titled 'Jay-Z buys a pet goat' and it would go at least three pages deep. The same thing with Nas or Eminem too. I don't hate Jay. He's made three (possibly four) classic albums IMO, but this is just another way to for him up his own ego and tell everyone how great and important he is. It worked. I normally hate talking about the Jay/Nas feud nowadays because it's redundant at this point, but maybe Nas was right in saying Jay loves the attention. Like someone said, I wouldn't be surprised if that trip to Cuba was a media ploy.

What I love most about this song is the response it's getting. The only reason anyone cared Jay and Beyonce were in Cuba is cause they were Black. Had they been white this would be no story. See Jay, don't matter how much money you get. You still a "N!@@er" in their eyes.

We shine because they hate us, floss cause they degrade us
We trying to buy back our 40 acres
And for that paper, look how low we a'stoop
Even if you in a Benz, you still a n!gga in a coupe

- KanYe West

White people go to Cuba Annually. White Actors and business men have gone there for festivals and other activities and you hear nothing. A Black man and his wife goes and all hell breaks loose. It's clear race is the issue.

i know that its clearly the issue here, but the way you typed it made it seems like you're saying that Jay is trying his hardest to be a cac

LOL, Knaw man, I don't get caught up in that Euro-Jay mess. My statement was more of a message to Jay even though he most likely doesn't read rap forum. It was just saying that Black People need to understand, bring rich means nothing cause of Racism. Oprah even said she got treated badly overseas cause she was black and a store owner thought she was broke when she went into a jewelry store. People love to call Jay "Euro-Jay" and I get the joke but Jay is a black man in America. That's what shaped him, that's what he came from. Sure he's moved up the economic ladder but this Cuba Controversy is exactly why I love "Open Letter". Basically Jay got HOOD on White America with that song instead of just releasing a formal statement or something.

I don't care what anyone says. I'm positive Obama got a laugh out of that verse. Especially the chilling on the beach part (Double Entandre cause Obama from Hawaii). In Public Obama won't say anything but I'm sure Jay got the text, lol. People love to call Jay lazy and uninspired lyrically which I agree in some cases cause 90's Jay was way more Lyrically than 2000's Jay. With that said he had some jewels in this verse if you break it down. Especially with the made in China line and giving Chef Keef a Kilo line (I should commit a REAL Crime). I still don't like the beat very much but the verse is really grown on me the more I've listened to it.
