Gonna sound like a hater but why was he working with Weinstein in the 1st place? They brought the rights to black stories and had Jay Z play the front man. He should be ashamed of himself.

We're talking representation here on the highest level at the most prestigious independent film studio there is. Everyone knows if you want an Oscar you go through The Weinstein Company.

We're talking about a movie like Paid in Full (if it was released today w/ Jay a part of TWC) not being just a great movie and a hood classic, but being recognized by the Hollywood Foreign Press and fighting for an Oscar. That might not seem like much, but that changes how the rest of the world perceives the entire face of the US. This could be yet another example of when Jay said, "I ain't cross over, I brought the suburbs to the hood."

This could be a big move in that creators like Issa Rae won't have to deal with as lengthy development hell and others like Jerrod Carmichael wont have to deal with unceremonious cancellations. More looks for newer creative's.

More representation in roles that go beyond the cheesy Rom com, the sad slave movie, or the wise side character box they like to typecast in.
