As of this morning, there’s one less place you can stream Jay Z’s acclaimed debut, Reasonable Doubt.

Top: Spotify lists the “Reasonable Doubt” tracklist, but won’t play any of the songs.
Bottom: Tidal offers “Reasonable Doubt” streaming in hi-fi. (Spotify/Tidal)

Listeners were quick to notice the album has gone missing from Spotify. But surprise, surprise, it’s available to stream in high fidelity on Tidal, Jay Z’s streaming service.

Is this a one-time thing, or are we going to see Jay pulling all his music from Spotify — and making it only available on Tidal? The new streaming service has been stepping up its exclusives game since its launch last week, offering Rihanna’s American Oxygenand Beyonce’s Die With You to anyone willing to pay $19.99/month for a subscription.

We’re not yet convinced it’s worth the money — but maybe we’ll reconsider if Spotify goes Jay-less.

Charlemagne The God spoke on it this morning and not Angela Yee. He's trying to give him but paraphrased misinformation saying he made just over $8k for I Am A Man from Spotify when it was actually Pandora and the reason for Tidal is for fair profit-sharing with artists. Gloss over the fact that they make these deals with labels and publishers directly.

The D (where it's so cold)
Wait, did he get Dame's permission for this? :lupe:

How can Jay control something he doesn't own the masters to?

As much as Dame loves to throw it out there that he owns Reasonable Doubt I think the truth is the ownership of RD's masters is split between Dame and Biggs.
I wonder if Jay cut a side deal with Biggs,

Jay ain't send Biggs a single letter or no money while he was doing his bid (is he still locked up btw?) I doubt he'd let that happen no matter how much money Jay offers

All Tidal is is a come up for the chosen few to eat since their labels aren't cutting them in on the action.
