The streaming wars are upon us :blessed:

Whose gonna come out on top? I wonder how Spotify will fight back if more artist start pulling there music. Will streaming services be like TV channels? To hear universal/interscope you'll need beats audio, to hear Roc nation you'll need Tidal, to hear Warner music you'll need Google play. shyt like that. I expect a bunch of bootleg services to start popping up now with random celebrities being the face of them.

I'm an audiophile so Tidal is straight with me :yeshrug: If other services offer lossless audio with a better catalog i'll switch to them.

Money has little to do with it. In 2001 MS was the big boy and Apple crushed the buildings with the Ipod. Then they crushed the buildings again with the iPhone. It's about quality of product. Apple have usually been the manufacturer's to make what everyone else has already been doing smooth, seamless, beautiful with great design & UX. However - normally nobody else has a top product in the space. I can't think of a MP3 player, smartphone or tablet that was top quality before the Apple version. The same applies for wearables and smartwatches. The Samsung's/LG/Pebble's barely move 1m a year between them.

However in the streaming game... for the first time in a long time Apple has just been plain old slow in getting a product to market. They where lazy. Spotify is 15m paying customers up. 60m customers total. I wouldn't bet against Spotify just taking it home.

I don't think you can slice up the streaming game like others have mentioned. The USP of streaming is convenience. The 15m spotify customers aren't paying for it because of any moral obligations. It's just easier than anything else. Easier than illegally downloading. Like Netflix. If the movie isn't on there, I probably 1. don't watch it. or 2. if I really care - illegally stream it instead. I'm not going to pay for Amazon Prime Movies or another service because what i want to watch isn't on my paid streaming service. Same applies to music.

Let's not kid ourselves, as consumers the only difference is the price and the so-called higher quality in the streaming (yet to know if there is a difference between TIdal and Spotify high quality streaming). This is the only argument we consumers should give a fukk about.

The whole argument Tidal is using about putting more money in the artists pocket is bullshyt. Why the fukk should we care about that? Especially since the artists brag about how much money they make. Only in music do artists feel obligated to continuous payment of their work. What if a carpenter built a house and said "yo nikka I built your house and I wanna be paid for it as long as it stands". In theory, its the same shyt. What makes musicians so much more important? All labels wont all of a sudden give more money to the artists because they are on a different streaming site. So how is Jay gonna make the artists money bigger? He can't, except for a chosen few who he gave away percentage to.

If the artists want more money they should have negotiated better deals with their record labels

Exactly! The rate doesn't change for artists. He and the select are trying to come up. Thee end. Not mad but do not sell mofos on some deep philosophical crap.
