what is the point of jay even speaking on this subject? who is sitting around thinking we want to hear from jay-z about "young music" and gatekeep what is considered "young music". if the music is good then enjoy it, if not then move on.

jay looked like he didn't even want to get interviewed. he looked annoyed explaining this and moving his hands all over the place like he's explaining a science subject.

4:44 really did a lot of heavy lifting for Jay's image and I say this as a fan.

He was the poster child for trend hopping, wave riding, chasing hits, and trying to be "cool" before that album.

That whole 2009-2016 era of Jay was the worst era of his career.
"4:44" was pretentious trash. nikka just switched Maybach to Warhol. he till called his audience broke peons while he was a billionaire There was nothing groundbreaking or eye opening about it, Same shallow JAY Z.

But it's authentic to who they are. They're drug dealing rappers. High living and drug dealing. That's been their mantra.

This is a nuance topic that I probably need more time to flesh out my opinion.
Most mature sentence I read on The Coli in 2026.

Almost NOBODY ever says this sentence anywhere, let alone on The Coli.

Respect. REPPED.
:ehh:

i honestly believe clipse's coke bars more than jay's :yeshrug:

drake was probably correct in his statement than he realizes though, i suspect both clipse and jay only sold what they had to, because if you had legit music money come in why would you fukk that up with drug money? cocaine is extremely lucrative especially in large amounts, you wouldn't have to do it forever. i could see them both washing their money and retiring, but that 'still spending money from 88' and '92 bricks' stuff is obvious bullshyt. if they were already millionaires why did they need a music career? if it was ONLY to rinse drug money, i dont think jay would've worked so hard on reasonable doubt.

im just speculating, i could be completely wrong. but i do notice these things

Jigga was THAT dude back in the day. His whole crew was. His opps are admitting to it

10 pages for someone to quote this....I was waiting on it. :dead:

Had to lol. That was the line that got the most attention off the album. Shows how stupid the general public is these days. Guys are dropping deep and profound songs with intricate lyrics but thats what caught on lol
