Jay-Z the same age as these 80s rappers. Why didn't Jay make it in the 80s?

Snoop, Pac and Big are actually the same age as Jay-Z and all those other guys you mentioned(what's the difference between 1969 and 1971? :comeon:). Rakim and them were actually abnormally succesful for their ages if you ask me. They already had record deals and classic albums in their teens (LL Cool J and Rakim were in high school with albums out). Most artists before the internet had to pay their dues and make a name in thir scene before they saw that kind of success.

Jay-Z wasn't succesful because he was just Jaz-'s hype man and he was making his money selling rocks (not to mention Hawaiian Sophie was a joke :troll:). He wasn't that old when he released RD as he was only 25.

dog.

25 was old for a new rapper back when reasonable doubt came out. it was still kinda old for a rapper period then.

ll cool j & rakim weren't novelties. most rappers blowing up back then were teenagers breh. ll cool j was a lil bt of a big deal cuz he was like 15 or some chit spittin like that. but the rest of them, not so much a big deal.

Yeah...

The fact that the leader of the hipster cool kids is old enough to be their pops is also ironic and amusing to me..

Now we got guys knockin on 40 like Ross and 2 Chainz that are trend setting and youngins like Earl and Joey Bad Ass are considered "old school"

The game totally flipped and it's no longer a youth influenced culture as much..

Back when I was 15, 35 year old rappers were gettin clowned and laughed off stage...Now they are the norm..

I remember when I was in high school reading The Source and I found out Ghostface was 26...I was shocked and a bit disappointed...My first thought was "damn dude can really spit for an old head"

:pachaha:

yep.

and now we got people saying stuff like "I'm only 26".

that's cool tho. makes me feel less :flabbynsick:
