Nas has more longevity in listening to the same old songs. Lost Tapes still sounds fresh to me.

Jigga rides trends and those trends come and go and some of styles he rides go along with them. So to me Nas' music is more timeless. They both have a deep catalogue so obviously there are exceptions so don't go pointing those out. I'm talking broadly.

Jay is better at the physical aspects of rapping, as far as the ability to flow the words in complex fashions
but Nas is better at the mental aspects of rapping as far as painting pictures with his words and making you think

But wouldn't Eminem also be better than Jay for the same reason that Nas is better than Jay?

No, Eminem raps better than Jay-Z live, that's the only thing I really got over him. Put so does DMX, and KRS-one, that doesn't mean their better than Jay too

Nas is a better writer, they are both elite level rappers (or were) skill wise...I think Jay had a better flow, Nas has more empathy, creativity and has aged better....

Jay is more user friendly...He knows what fans want and gives it to them...

Nas takes more risks and often pays for it in the short term..But will eventually go down as someone who released more timeless art imo...
