I just remember brooklyns finest & ain’t no nikka getting mad tick on the radio summer ‘96. Jay was an up n coming rapper back then nothin more nothin less
This. Ain’t No nikka was in rotation on Detroit radio but that was all. Jigga wasn’t a large figure in rap here until Vol. 2. Dropped.

I even remember Jay Z, threatening to retire and saying volume two was his last album solely because of him not being an instant success, after a reasonable doubt, and volume one outside of New York.

Summer 96, you couldn't go 30 mins w/o hearing Killin Me Softly, or Tha Crossroads...
In Detroit, Aaliyah, OutKast, and Bone thugs was all over the radio in 95. Outside of Big and PAC of course. Nas wasn’t getting major play until 96 and Jay until Vol. 2
