As a Jay fan (not Stan) most of his albums have at least a couple of downright terrible songs on them. I don't think that makes his discography much worse, but it's like a bad test. You always remember the really bad answers. Like Vol 1 has some of the absolute best and some of the absolute worst songs of his career.

That's especially true with Vol. 1.

Due to the terrible 2 (Sunshine & I Know What Girls Like), cats to this day will swear it's one of his worst albums, and that it's all commercial/jiggy shyt on the album, while that couldn't be further from the truth.

Joints like Streets Is Watching, Imaginary Player, Who You Wit II, A Million & One Questions/Rhyme No More, Where I'm From, Friend Or Foe 98, and You Must Love Me are some of the dopest and raw songs he's ever made.

I most definitely am,...
as argueably, the gunit album is actually higher in quality.
plus, at least I know they possibly wrote their own material.

how is the black album one of jay's most personal records and he did not write it.

Man Jay wrote it. I don;t know what Barr is saying in this instance. 9th Wonder was there when Jay recorded Threat, I remember that weekend, and relayed the stories of how fast he wrote it. Unless Jay memorized an album someone wrote for him and spit it over beats later, after pretending to write it?

I mean, on the documentary you can see him making songs. Unless he means Kanye wrote the hook and bridge for Lucifer?

The popular choice cats online like to run with is Lupe, with no proof at all.

Thank you.

Yeah I don't buy it. Not to namedrop to prove it, but 9th Wonder came back after recording Threat and told us about what went down. Fellow Justus League member Chaundon was there and he saw it too. They saw him record Threat. They saw him coming up with the idea and making it.

There's visual evidence of him making Lucifer, Allure, December 4th, What More Can I Say, 99 Problems, PSA...

shyt, the story for PSA alone...the album was done before it was recorded. The album was being sent off the Mastering THAT DAY. Just made the beat, called Jay in and said "You have to do it!" and Jay did. If Lupe wrote it, how is Jay coming up with all these last minute verses?

It's like I said, unless Lupe gave Jay like 45-60 verses/hooks and Jay memorized them and just chose what verses to pit where, there's no way this theory holds weight. Jay started his Black Album flow on some of the BP2 joints. So unless you want to say that Lupe also wrote parts of that, I gotta call shenanigans.

Overall I'll accept a lot of orders as being cool. As far as Jay's list, I just think that Dynasty and Vol. 3 should be higher, and that MGHC should definitely be lower, and Vol. 2 could be 4.5 if you want to count how it made him a star and was a huge album, but it's not a 5.

I mostly agree with this, except AG should be higher and Dynasty should be higher as well...I really don't understand the hate for that album, except Amil fukking it up
Yeah I personally have always fukked with Dynasty.

My personal favorite intro song....:wow:

Introspective/Personal Hov....:to:

In hindsight Black Album was one of the most pathetic and unintentionally hilarious albums in the history of the culture.. I don't know how anyone listens to the album now without cringing...

Its like watching home video from a chicks "going away party" knowing that she changed her mind a month later and still lives next door...

Have to admit...even though the music was good...I kinda feel the same way in retrospect.
December 4th....:scusthov:

Encore....:why:

My First Song....:dead:

Watching Fade To Black makes it worse..especially when it kept emphasizing how it was going to be his "last" album..and that Vibe article where he was writing why he was leaving :pachaha: this nikka...

What makes it even more ridiculous is that even with all this bullshyt....there is no doubt in my mind that Jay always intended to come back as soon as he did. Pure comedy. The ego of this man....

I fukk with Dynasty, but it shouldn't be considered his album when everyone knows it was a rebranded group album.

I haven't heard Magna Carta, BP3, Kingdom Come and WTT cause Jay-Z really bored to me....feel like I listen to his rap the same shyt all the time and got tired of it. I feel like he hasn't grown as an artist, hasn't changed artistically, imo.
