All I know is growing up I thought that album cover was cool as fukk. That, Reasonable Doubt and Blueprint 1 are probably my favorite Jay-Z covers.

Edit: AG's cover was hard as fukk too

I thought Vol. 2 was dope as shyt!!

I played this album crazily back then. Vol. 3 was the one that I thought was type shaky. Strong start, but he had some of his worst records on that one.

That was a great day. I was still livin at the crib, so every dollar I made from my job, stayed in my pocket lol. Got of work at 4, hit the mom n pop store, and copped both joints.

I know there is still good music out there, but not in the magnitude it was back then in mainstream.

Yeah being from the South we just knew Kast was going to be number one than somehow Jay got it. We were like :dahell:

I bought both and ran them into the ground

I think Lauryn came out the week before that

I never understood the hate that this album gets on here, I thought it was entertaining and some of his better work. Call it pop if you will, but it had some standout tracks on there and I can usually go through the whole CD.

Better than me having to listen to him taking a walk through MOMA

It's a good album, but people get way too carried away in calling it one of his best.

Vol. 1 is still the best of that trilogy. I can't believe it gets so much shyt on this board.

I didn't care for that things that you do either. This album came out when I was in high school and I used to drive my girlfriend and my little cousin to school every day. I'd try to skip over that joint and they would have a fit until I flipped back.

They would be in the car like :ohlawd: :stylin:

I'd be sitting there like
fAetkPQ.png

breh his flow on "things that u do" is crazy

i think thats one of his most underrated tracks

nikka was just floating all over the beat effortlessly :whew:

"Rap skills unmatched Jigga man baby
I can't entertain it sometimes I can't explain it
God given, guess it was all for hard living
Far be it from me to question Allah's wisdom
Could've been lost in the system
Instead I'm involved with the rhythm
I dodged prison, came out unscathed from car collisions
I know I must be part of some mission
shyt I used take it for granted
Why they placed me on this planet
I would ask myself while writin raps to myself
But right there under my nose
Was the flow of all flows
Not a demon but a rose in the cement, come on"

gems hidden between a mariah carey hook

Volume 3 was more of a letdown IMO

I know it was huge for His career and made him a superstar and it has classic tracks on there but the album itself has always been just average to me. Same thing with Volume 3

Volume 1 is easily better then the next 2

vol 1 had some of his absolute worst tracks ever..same with vol 3. which is my least fav hov album (but vol 1 also had some of his best)

vol 2 will always have a special place in my heart.. middle school age. it was just fire :jawalrus:

and bleek KILLED that intro
