Perfect post. The only thing to add is he was coming off 2 different albums that went plat the same year. One of them went 2x plat:naswon: Had it been most rappers jay called out it wouldve received just aehh. That line is only potent if you believe it, which I don't.
Nas was number 5 on BET's all time list and was coming off a Platinum album at the time. No one forgot about him. Fans wouldn't had reactedwhen Jay said, "ask Nas he don't want it with Hov" if Nas was "irrelevant".
