Carter 2 is Wayne’s only classic, and that’s 1 more than Drake. Take care is the closest, but not a classic, and for the most part you answered your own question on who has classics and who doesn't
You got joe budden in ya avy and u talmbout classics

Nah, Cole had his own lane with Friday Night Lights and The Warm Up which was deep and introspective. It was different then College drop out Kanye too if we are keeping it real. Only thing similar to him was Blu.

Some where along the way he took a left and I think it was because at one point he cared about popularity and making hits which is why his first album came out that way, then he didn't care about popularity which is why we got 4 Your Eyes Only and then he cared about popularity a little bit more and took some things into consideration which is why we got KOD which was great but not his best.

Sideline story was still cole doing cole. He had hit records cause Hov told him u need records or nothing matters. Which is true. Nas even said the same thing. Cole stopped caring about being a megastar after 2014 but probably realized nobody thought KOD and 4YEO were good

J. Cole put his whole heart and soul behind those tapes breh it was never gonna be the same after
True I guess your right breh but never say never, we seen flashes of it here and there and 2014 Forrest Hills Drive was a masterpiece imo. Born Sinner was great too in it's own right. I feel it could have been the same but he chose to go a different route to appeal to more people.

That's why I said he cared about hits, not that he wasn't doing him but it wasn't as pure. He spent some time trying to find the perfect first single and even released that whack ass song Dizaster as a single that didn't make the album lol when I'm On It would have been a more natural single for him imo.

I look at it as Cole doing his version of a commercial album which was cool but it wasn't 2014 Forrest Hill Drive or Born Sinner where he really found his groove. It also wasn't on the level of his mixtapes which was him at his rawest. You could say the same for Drake's first album which imo was cool and dope for the time but looking back at it, it could have been way better. It was the pressure and the need to make a big single so they didn't drop the ball that got to both of them.

I’m a huge Drake fan but I’m a hip hop fan first & foremost. If you don’t write your own raps you’re automatically disqualified from any GOAT talk :yeshrug:. Even if he did write all his raps he only has one classic (Take Care) and half of it wasn’t even rap. How can he be better than rappers like Pac, Big, Nas, Jay, 3K, Ice Cube, Ghostface etc when they have multiple classics? Even his contemporaries (Kendrick & Future) have more classics than him.

Drake writes his raps and has written for others (FACT, he wrote his bodyguard a hit lmao). A couple co written songs ain't changing that. Also you're writing off his number of classics but IN REAL LIFE dudes whole discog in the charts, more than any other artist and his music is really impacting. Classic is how your music is really resonating with a generation. His music doesn't come and go.

If you genuinely think Drake a writer I don't even understand why you're a fan. Especially his personal music about his mother, father, love interests etc. You write that off because of some co written banger

If Drake is what YOU think he is they will make another artist who will do what Drake has in no time, hint: It won't happen.

Not saying that Drake had ghostwriters for every song but those reference tracks has put an asterisk on his entire discography. And yes his albums does chart but numbers doesn’t = classics or then we can say that everything Em dropped was a classic. I do feel NWTS & IYRTITL are near-classics though.

Drake is an icon no doubt, he has countless classic singles and his best of album would be as good as any rapper in history. But his albums other than Take Care always has fillers that hurt them. Look at Scorpion for example, 1st disc was exceptional but the half of the songs on disc 2 were weak. If he just added the best R&B songs on disc 2 to disc 1 and remove “I’m Upset” I think that would’ve been seen as a classic as well.

Is it asterix or you saying he doesn't his raps post before, stop. You're playing dumb or a hater if you don't realise Drake is extremely talented and that's the reason for his success. That "asterix" is for the people who used to say he ain't real hip hop before that sh*t and hate him anyway.

What = classic ? You saying its classic?

It's more than numbers (although those numbers show who's music is really resonating). It's that music being still relevant over a decade, that music being influential, that music coming on in Arenas and killing shyt.

The amount of forgettable sh*t that impacts nothing that yall call classic because it fits in your "real hip hop" box but front on Drake lol. History will tell its own story because what his music is doing can't be duplicated.

Look at the impact the anniversary of SFG had. That's REAL LIFE classics, not online nerd tick box classic.
