because the term “African American” is a horrible way to identify a group of people

technically = Elon Musk is an African American

it was a huge mistake - and i dont blame Jesse - i honestly think he had all the right intentions but unfortunately we live in a piece of shyt world

Yeah, watching what he was doing during that 80s run was crazy..from the presidential runs to Hymie Town (was true then & now)

And yes, there was push back in the community about the term 'African American'

I think people started looking at him funny, was when after all those boycotts..he & his sons made that deal to get a beer distributorship. Then the Obama comments which seems like they came out of nowhere.

But overall, he put the work in & deserves nothing but respect.

Rest In Power :salute:

with that said - im pretty much sure he’ll realize promoting us as African American was a tremendous mistake

that promotion is his MLK version of King apologizing for leading my peoples into a burning house

its still & will always be nothing but love … Rest well :salute:

I think he knew we'd never be simply viewed as "American" by many ppl.

So in order to not be labeled Black-American or Negro-American or something that further separated us from other humans, he came up with that term.

He wasn't perfect and had his flaws, but he did more than anybody today is doing.

RIP Rev. Jackson

I think growing up in 90s there was always some type of joke about him on sitcoms or standup comics. But overall, what he did is legendary even if he wasn't perfect
