Fam, its not even that the music since then has been “bad”...the problem is that it all runs together. His first 3 albums are all very distinct from one another. After that though, nearly the same production and delivery on every single song and project.
Seriously...there is literally no difference between TM103, Seen It All, Church in the Streets, Trap or Die 3, Pressure, TM104, and this. You could randomly mix all the songs up from these albums and you wouldn’t be able to tell which songs belong on which album or what time period they were made in. It’s like he’s been in the same continuous studio session for the past 12 years with no variation. I don’t think I’ve ever seen this level of artistic stagnation from someone In game long as Jeezy.
Only Jeezy projects I’ve thoroughly enjoyed since Recession are probably Trappin Ain’t Dead and Trap or Die 2, and It’s Tha World
Great points.
Yeah, Jeezy's career is a very interesting case study.
He went from consistently making distinctive, high quality, creative music, to a consistent uninspired stagnant run.
He had some glimpses of his former self along the way after the recession (Fame, Trapped, I Do, Seen It All, Holy Ghost etc),
but everything started to dwindle down slowly
From someone who made such high caliber music early in his career, I wonder why the hell he would release light shyt like this?
Think about this shyt, we just had a entire project with
Shawty Redd & Young Jeezy and they came out with light shyt like this?
I think Holy Ghost is literally the last time he dropped a high quality, distinctive song.
