Before this goes off the rails, my position pov is straight forward:

If you spend time shaming wealthy people to donate or do their part, what value are you gaining by shaming them when they do. It seems counter intuitive to me.

"He only did so because people like Bernie were giving him shyt."

:manny:

These guys didn't become billionaires based on their altruism.

People mainly were upset at him for how he plays his workers. This donation was not asked for or thought of.

Which workers? :wow:

And this is definitely a donation that was sought and asked for considering the homeless situation in Seattle and other PAC NW cities.

little old to believe in fairy tales no?
What's a fairy tale? Amazon employees receive public assistance?

Thousands of Amazon workers receive food stamps. Now Bernie Sanders wants the company to pay up.

"Public records obtained by the New Food Economy, a nonprofit news organization, show that thousands of Amazon employees rely on the government’s Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP) to make ends meet."

Or Bernie's Bill?
"Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) will soon introduce legislation that would require large employers such as Amazon, Walmart and McDonald’s to fully cover the cost of food stamps, public housing, Medicaid and other federal assistance received by their employees. The goal, he says, is to force corporations to pay a living wage and curb about $150 billionin taxpayer dollars that go to funding federal assistance programs for low-wage workers each year.

The bill, which Sanders plans to introduce in the Senate on Sept. 5, would impose a 100 percent tax on government benefits received by workers at companies with 500 or more employees. For example, if an Amazon employee receives $300 in food stamps, Amazon would be taxed $300."

Bernie's bill isn't going to pass.

The premise is on point and I'm behind it 1000%.

The ones on public assistance. I'm sure you heard of Bernie's BEZOS bill?
You mean warehouse workers.

I think the median pay for them is around 14/hr.

How does it compare to other warehouse workers?

Is this issue specific to Amazon?

What number do you believe they should make?

Or should we accept public assistance as a good, change tax laws for corporations and the wealthy and let the chips fall where they lay?

We should raise the minimum wage. Which would raise the avg. income of warehouse workers.
They should make enough not to qualify for public assistance.
Public assistance already is a public good but it should be reserved for people not working full-time.
And yes, raise the corporate and wealthy's tax rates.
