I mean, even if the files are released and are incredibly incriminating for Trump, it still doesn't change that nothing will happen to him.

For everybody that says nothing ever happens to Trump, he's Teflon Don etc. keep in mind how he's getting slaughtered in the approval ratings, the numerous polls showing young people, latino's etc. regret voting for him

It hasn't been a good year for Donnie, in large part because of the non-stop chaos & idiocy coming out of his administration

Can be some 5 dimensional chess
  • Him getting behind it takes the wind out of the Dem's sails
  • He gets a small bump for his popularity among his base (see the conservative sub reddit, and the maga influencers)
  • The Senators will say no
  • And then he can also change his mind
This is on top of the procedural move of investigating Dems mentioned (they found the sista that was emailing with Epstein), which can also halt the release of the files.

Do I think Trump thought of this? No.
Are most the people in his camp this sharp? I don't think so.

But is there at least one person that in the camp that could be this mercenary and ruthless? Probably.

Taking the Epstein files off the table, still has the remaining Nazi-ification/Groyper-ification of their party/Noem scandal with DHS/Affordability, etc

But those side quests don't mean anything to his base.

They're going to hide behind the DOJ investigation which gives them the ability to suppress all files. Meaning they will leak specific files to try and divert the attention away from Trump. So expect Fox to get scoops on files containing the names of prominent Dems for the next 60 days.

Yeah, this is possible and, the more I think about it, likely. He can act like he really wants the files to be released (while setting things up so that that will be impossible), and blame others for blocking the release.

However, I also wonder why everyone assumes that the files are guaranteed to remain untouched. What is stopping the Trump administration from just modifying them? Why on earth would they preserve something that will incriminate him? Is there any mechanism in place to keep them untainted? I doubt it.

My sense/hope is that there are factions in the intelligence community that have backups upon backups. That it would be impossible to erase every single copy of every single document in across multiple organizations, public and private. For example, All the Epstein financial records are also sitting in some bank database somewhere. Maybe it's on tape and they gotta run an archival search, but there is a trail.

The victims are real. They just put out a big ad in the last few days.

That said, Trump is strong enough and his opposition is weak enough that it won't matter.
