Jermaine isn't beating Puff and this isn't under valuing JD by any means. People saying Jermaine has Mariah records doesn't help his case at all because so does Puff. If you go into the Hop Hop realm, Puff has Biggie records. In addition to Biggie, Puff has Mase records, there's songs with Nas. JD plays a Jagged Edge song and Puff could counter with a 112 record. JD plays an Xscape record, Puff could counter with a Total song. JD plays a Da Brat song, Puff still has "No Time" by Kim to counter. JD plays his MC Lyte record, Puff has a single on the same Lyte album.

People still don’t understand JD’s impact… lol. That man has major production credits on two diamond+ albums.

Also, how is Diddy competing with Dre? On what world? It’s a helluva narrative to try and convince people he could… but Dre could get Diddy out the paint without leaving the 80s/90s.

It's pretty much one diamond album, which is the four singles he did off Confessions. On CrazySexyCool he did two songs and only one was a single ("Kick Your Game") and it wasn't really huge even though it's one of my favorite songs off that album.

Diddy is clown thinking he’s worthy of dre. Saying add some more cow bell and actually fully producing a record are two very different things. Now if you just making it label affiliations, I guess

emancipation of mimi. he co-produced and co-wrote every single that mattered, chart-wise.

it's like that
we belong together (#1)
shake it off (#2... only reason it wasn't a #1 is because we belong together was blocking it.. and then kanye dropped golddigger)
dont forget about us (#1)

diddy knows JD would be a fight. he wants dre because dre is arguably the biggest matchup verzuz can offer.

dre vs. [insert super producer]
nas vs. jay
drake vs. kanye

any of those matchups, if they happen, is going multi-platinum. guaranteed.

And Puffy has Jodeci, Mary J, Faith Evans, 112, B.I.G., Ma$e, Total, The Lox and a who's who of remixes of the 90's era.

Oh yeah, and Puff worked with Mariah and helped her make one of her biggest songs with Honey (remix too)

And he worked with Nelly too, for the Bad Boys 2 soundtrack

Puff isn't an actual producer in the Hip Hop way, but he's a producer in the way that a lot of non Hip Hop producers are.

He has the ear in knowing what works and what sounds great. He knows his music.

And Puff has had some ups and downs with his artists, however he did manage to put together a Bad Boy Reunion together a few years ago that people followed in his footsteps, like who? Jermaine, that's right. :russ:
lol @ an ear. This is like basically putting someone who’s good at making a playlist on the same level as someone who produced the songs being placed on the playlist.

you like bad boy more, got it. But if we’re looking at this as a battle of producers, not label heads/A&R, JD is way ahead of puff

It would be a dope battle, shyt would just get a little weird when Dre is breaking out Lady Of Rage and Pac joints and Neptunes is digging in the JT and Brittney bag

But I think what's ill about the Neptunes is they could probably just do street records and still come pretty close with Clipse/Push, NORE, Snoop, Mystikal, etc
Nope, Neptunes need to battle Timbaland. Comparable sounds - both had a unique style - and comparable people they produced for - top 40/party rap songs, r&b and pop stars

Tim wasted his talent on swizz
