Diddy wants to battle a WEST COAST nikka so how is it East Coast bias u goofy weirdo? TIP literally ducked the fade from Busta cause he wants 50. Tell that nikka to sit down somewhere.
Why would tip battle busta? They’re nothing alike stylistically or content wise, and their career arcs don’t even overlap. Busta’s prime was 96-02, TI 03-08. It’s a fair ask for TI to want to go against someone who at least had the same run of years

Nah that’s an excuse to me. While TI was hot Busta was still making hits. Busta even said he could stay in the 00s and compete wit TIP. And I believe him. The Lox was out since 96 and Dipset ain’t really get poppin till 02-03. Fat Joe got shyt from all the way back in like 92 and Ja ain’t really get his footing until 99. DMX dropped in 98 and Snoop been droppin hits since 91. And lasted way longer after X as well. No one would bat an eye if TI battle Ludacris and he’s more stylistically in Busta’s realm than TIP’s. Kanye would beat Busta in a Verzuz and their careers don’t overlap.

Dip and lox intersect musically and regionally - and by years due to Cam, fat joe and ja intersect musically, regionally and their primes match up (tho Joe had a couple resurgence after), dmx and snoop was doing that because of friendship - that’s one of the few where it wasn’t about matching up the music, it was just celebrating

Luda and ti overlap sonically, regionally and by years. Ti and busta makes no sense unless they are like snoop and x and just friends who wanna go back a forth celebrating

See it however you want to. As someone from neither region of those artists, I don’t care to see them matched up as I’ve never related anything about either artist to the other.

Furthermore it’d be a supreme waste of a moment to celebrate someone like busta who can pull tracks from 91-08, there aren’t many artists like that and there is no point of putting them against someone who can’t do the same nor have enough regional/style similarities to at least be able to counter those old hits with something in the same vein even if a decade later

Some of y’all be championing terrible matchups

People still don’t understand JD’s impact… lol. That man has major production credits on two diamond+ albums.

Also, how is Diddy competing with Dre? On what world? It’s a helluva narrative to try and convince people he could… but Dre could get Diddy out the paint without leaving the 80s/90s.

Dre got 3 different eras lol

NWA era, Death Row era and Aftermath era

:wow:

Jermaine Dupri is a great R&B producer and songwriter

But when it comes to Hip Hop, a lot of his stuff in the early to late 90's was a lot of biting of various styles

Him and Da Brat bit Dre and Snoop's whole style with the Funk

Then he followed Puff's style

He just wasn't "original" with a lot of his Hip Hop production

He's a good songwriter and his work with Xscape and Mariah is legendary, but other than a few songs here and there in Hip Hop, a lot of stuff wasn't "original"

It all depends on the crowd...JD could smash Diddy with just 20 Usher songs

Ehh, he grew up in an era where NY was slighting the south well into the 00’s. You feel some type of way cuz you’re from NY, but y’all nikkas was on some high and mighty shyt, even nikkas like Cee-lo had to make tracks to address the hate. can’t be mad that people who came up under that - particularly artists - still see things thru that lens :manny:

emancipation of mimi. he co-produced and co-wrote every single that mattered, chart-wise.

it's like that
we belong together (#1)
shake it off (#2... only reason it wasn't a #1 is because we belong together was blocking it.. and then kanye dropped golddigger)
dont forget about us (#1)

diddy knows JD would be a fight. he wants dre because dre is arguably the biggest matchup verzuz can offer.

dre vs. [insert super producer]
nas vs. jay
drake vs. kanye

any of those matchups, if they happen, is going multi-platinum. guaranteed.

This is all facts.

East Coast vs West Coast

Bad Boy vs Death Row
