So JD has to stand on his own merits while Puff just gets to take credit for what Chucky Thompson, Rashad Smith, Nashiem Myrick, D-Dot, Stevie J, etc. did? :unimpressed:

I'm quite sure, Puff isn't playing anything that doesn't have his name on it. Not every Hitmen production has a Puff co-production, but a lot of them do. Read the credits.

And yes, Jermaine had co-producers as well from Manuel Seal to Carl So Lowe to Bryan Michael Cox to No I.D. JD even has credits with D Dot.

THE MOST OUTTER REACHES OF THE COSMOS
No, you got it wrong. The fact that he has the capacity to get Mary J Bilge for the hook, tell the producer to add a bell to the track, lay some adlibs, tell the rapper to spit that verse over, and not write any lyrics, clearly shows more musical skill and talent than someone like Dre or JD who can do all those aforementioned things, AND make beats, engineer, DJ, and in JD’s case write whole songs. Clearly Puffy is the true musical genius here

Obviously I’m being sarcastic, dude is delusional

U had me for a second:mjlit: so,I’m glad u clarified that brother,cause I was like…..nikka :mjtf:

Also diddy think he slick lol I think he rather lose to Dre and than lose to JD which would be an upset

I don't think that's the case at all. He's trying to little brother Jermaine basically saying he's another tier. In terms of catalog, Puff definitely has a point. In terms of talent, JD is a whole other league, but Verzuz is a song battle and in that element Puff wins just off his solo set of songs and features. JD couldn't really bully him with R&B records because Puff has those too. In terms of Hip Hop, the needle definitely moves toward Puff.

Dre vs Diddy wouldn't even sound right. Dre don't got hits like Diddy got. Diddy vs Jermaine is actually a very even match up

ATL…overly
As an Atlanta breh I’d love to see this battle. JD’s R&B records in this battle would be neck and neck with Puff. The hip hop side would be more decisive for Puff but it would still be a good matchup

Biggest reason this won’t happen is b/c Puff only wants to go up against another mogul like Dre. JD ain’t in that conversation and that’s why it wouldn’t happen

You might be the one smoking thinking Dre has more hits because he's right.

If you go to Billboard and compare their Top 100 hits as artists Diddy wins by a landslide.

#1's
Dre: 2
Diddy: 5

Top 10
Dre: 6
Diddy: 15

Songs
Dre: 16
Diddy: 37
Them as lead artists is not what this matchup would be about :what:

And chart position of songs also hasn’t been a factor in verzuz in general, especially looking at the top 100 which is a measure of crossover success - not necessarily how it resonates in the community. I’d assume Nelly had better chart performance than Luda and Luda washed him

This would not be a good match up by any means. Even if you put up JD's R&B production. Puff has these:

R&B:

112- the songs Puff is credited with vs JD's Jagged Edge production

Total- songs Puff is credited with vs JD's production on Xscape

Faith Evans- Puff's credits on Faith Ebans albums vs various other JD R&B production

Mariah- Puff's Mariah remixes vs JD's production for Mariah

Mary J Blige- Puff's credits on My Life and Mary's 411 remix album could easily offset anything else from JD's Mariah bag

Hip Hop:

Puff's solo career could go up against ANY Hip Hop songs that JD could pull from his bag

This would not be a good match up.

What are you measuring? Them as lead artists? Cuz that’s not what this matchup would be about. And chart position of songs also hasn’t been a factor in verzuz in general, especially looking at the top 100 which is a measure of crossover success - not necessarily how it resonates in the community. Beyoncé got better chart performance than Mary j blige but Mary’s shyt is more revered in the community

Diddy has more hits by the Billboard metric and any other metric. Dre can't match him in volume because Diddy has a ton of R&B that Dre can't touch.

Not to mention this isn't the lockdown days. Dre isn't gonna be able to match Diddy on stage as a showman. It's just a bad matchup for him. Jermaine and Diddy would be more entertaining because they both have an extensive R&B catalog.

The hell are you talking about in regard to any other metric?…:what:

secondly, verzuz has already proven multiple times chart positions don’t mean shyt when it comes to “winning”

third, who cares if the r&b bag ain’t as deep, this is about 20 tracks…dre has shyt from the 80’s to 2010’s to pull from, he’ll be more than ok

Fourth, This would not be about them getting up there to perform their songs as artists, shyt would be about production (tho diddy ain’t produce shyt) and labels…it either turns into a guest filled concert or it reverts to one of the other formats that’s more about the contestants playing tracks and telling stories

no offense but don’t keep replying to me, cuz you’re clearly the only one thinking this battle would be about diddy the artist vs dre the artist…that’s not the conversation any of us were having

Everybody got Diddy winning but he'd lose if it actually went down. That's how these things work if you haven't noticed by now :ehh:

Thank you. Someone who actually gets it and looks at the numbers. Everyone is just going off names instead of actual chart topping hits. Dre's acts are mostly gangster rappers who are normally in the top 40 hits. Dre not winning a Verzuz with his own music, Eminem and Snoop alone.
