I'm saying adult section or not young people had access to the music. All that did was make it more enticing to us. I was in middle school when "Born To Mack" dropped, everyone had it.

Which is why they adopted the PA sticker....which just made people want it more. It was a sub-genre of rap destined to blow with or without Heller. Or NWA, for that matter. Too Short, Ice T, Quik, CMW, etc. had the same content before or during NWA's rise, too.

Fred.
well it's music, and it's not gonna come down to the content alone. NWA had the formula to make it happen. had dudes in my hometown in Mass wearing Raiders jackets and shyt

Ice Cube Comments On Death Of Jerry Heller

Days after the passing of former N.W.A manager Jerry Heller, Ice Cube revealed that he’ll take time to reflect on his relationship with Heller — both the ups and downs.

Cube was asked about his former manager during a recent interview with Detroit’s Local 4.

The rapper pointed out the timing of Heller’s death, given that he passed away on the weekend Cube performed with other N.W.A members MC Ren and DJ Yella, as well as The D.O.C. and other West Coasters at Detroit’s “Return Of The Legends” concert.

“It’s just ironic that I’m here tonight with MC Ren,” Ice Cube said. “With DJ Yella. We’ve come a long way. And to me, the passing of Jerry Heller is a thing that’s a part of life. You come here to pass away. We all gonna definitely reflect on our time with Jerry. The ups and the downs. And there you have it.”

Jerry Heller passed away over the weekend following a car crash, which may have come after he suffered a medical emergency. Shortly after Heller’s death, his lawyer stated that he “would be alive today” if it weren’t for the release of the Straight Outta Compton biopic.

After his departure from N.W.A, Ice Cube was critical of Heller, going in on his former manager with a scathing diss track called “No Vaseline” in 1991.

In regards to performing with the likes of MC Ren and DJ Yella almost 30 years after N.W.A’s Straight Outta Compton album was released, Ice Cube expressed his amazement at the feat.

“It’s fun because we all know where we came from,” he said. “We all know our humble beginnings. When we were trying to get to this level. And to still be here on this day, so many years after the release of Straight Outta Compton. It’s amazing that people still wanna see us.”

Eazy-E’s Daughter Defends Jerry Heller - XXL

N.W.A.’s first manager Jerry Heller died this past weekend at the age of 75. Following the news, Ice Cube had said that he felt no emotions, the rapper famously leaving the group after a dispute with Heller over unpaid royalties. Dr. Dre left soon after, citing similar difficulties, and the whole drama is depicted in the recent N.W.A. biopic Straight Outta Compton, Paul Giamati playing Heller in a role that caused the manager to sue Cube and Dre for defamation.

At the center of the rift was the relationship between Eazy-E and Heller, who founded Ruthless Records together, and as the film depicts, potentially conspired against the remaining group members. It would make sense then that Eazy’s daughter has a different perspective on the passing, speaking to TMZ recently with a heavy heart.

“I’m still depressed about it,” E.B. Wright says above. “I stand behind Jerry Heller to the fullest. He was like a second father to my dad, so I’ma call him like another grandfather to me. I’m very sad about his passing and just hoping to continue my father’s legacy and Jerry’s and get out the truth.”

Wright additionally says that while she remains an advocate for Straight Outta Compton, she doesn’t feel it was 100 percent truthful and is working on her own documentary about Ruthless Records. As for whether the film contributed to Heller’s death as his attorney suggested, Wright said, “He lived many years with people hating him and thinking wrongly of him.”

it's crazy to see NWA still relevant after all these years, they need to make an new album or something along the lines.
