I agree. A lot of rookie mistakes by Magic and Pelinka got overshadowed by the LeBron signing.
- Not getting something back for Randle.
- Trading D'lo.
- Not keeping Larry Nance. (They shouldve found a way to put Randle in that deal instead)
- Drafting Ball.
- Passing on Boogie and letting him sign to the team to beat.
- Passing on Lopez.
- Still holding onto Deng's contract.
- Not trading for PG13.
- Not trading for Kawhi.
This could have been their team:
One of Ball/Tatum/D'lo (you would have to assume Kuz/Ingram/other young pieces were traded in the PG13/Kawhi deals.)
PG13
LeBron
Kawhi
Boogie (on a discount)
This is not NBA 2K

- Trading D'Angelo was a great move because they got rid of not only Mozgov's contract but were able to have Kuzma and Josh Hart as well. Lakers would have still drafted Kuzma without the trade but Josh Hart has been so great for us that the trade was worth it. D'Angelo has knee issues, had issues with not working hard enough (Brian Shaw's own words), and we were able to get rid of Mozgov's contract in the trade which we needed to do if we wanted to get a free agent.
- Larry Nance has to be the most overrated guy by casual fans, he is a good hustle player but nothing more than that. TT outplayed him and he was useless for Cavs. Randle is a much better player. Getting rid of Larry Nance helped us get rid of Clarkson's contract, gave us a 1st pick as well. This was a great move by Magic/Pelinka.
- Drafting Ball is what they needed to do since they had 0 point guards on the roster. The jury is still out on that, it can very well be a bad pick but the consensus was Fultz and Ball 1 and 2. Even Celtics were trying hard to get Josh Jackson to work out for them because they weren't fully sure about Tatum.
- I will agree with the Boogie one, Lakers should have signed him especially since they didn't go get Brook Lopez. Not signing Boogie right now potentially is going to hurt them not signing him after this year as well. If Boogie ends up being good again, he won't sign with Lakers next year because he will know that Lakers passed on him.
- They are not holding onto Dengs contract, if they can trade for him they would but there is no need to rush that since they can afford to keep him. What is the point in trading extra assets for Deng right now if we are not getting the 2nd big name? It will be much easier to trade him next year with one pick since he is expiring rather than trading him now which would be useless and free cap space

- PG13 told everyone and anyone that he wanted to be a Laker, I am glad we didn't trade Ingram or 2nd pick for him. I would rather have Ingram and PG then just one. He made his choice not to join and he had the opportunity to do so.
- Spurs want the whole team, only an idiot would trade that much for Kawhi..a guy who still hasn't revealed what his injury is. Lakers would love to trade for him if the price was Ingram and a few picks but Spurs want more and you can't ruin your team for it.
- The only mistakes Lakers made was not going for Boogie, or re-signing Brook. They wanted Randle but Randle didn't want to be here. They could have traded and get some assets for him but his market was pretty horrible. He was only getting late 1st to 2nd round picks offered for him. Lakers still had hope to re-sign him, he would have been great here with this team but he didn't want to come off the bench.
Your starting 5 is unrealistic since they would have to trade assets to get rid of Deng and Mozgov. Teams are not trading 2 years worth of Deng/Mozgov for just picks, so they would not get PG or Kawhi if you wanted them to trade Deng and Mozgov.
