North Wildwood sets a 10 p.m. summer curfew for teens joining other Jersey Shore towns
From May 15 through Sept. 15, those underage will not be allowed in public places or businesses without a parent or guardian from 10 p.m.
With this measure, North Wildwood is joining other Shore municipalities such as Toms River, Long Branch, Ocean City, Wildwood and Isle City in establishing similar teen curfews.
From Sept. 16 to May 14, the curfew will be pushed back to 11 p.m. On Halloween night and during the three days leading up to it, the curfew will start at 10 p.m.
Teens would still be able to go to work, events, or activities with adult supervision, and parents can send them on errands at night, as long as they come back home quickly.
Parents who let their kids break curfew will also be held accountable and may have to pay a fine. The first time costs $250 to $500. If it happens again within a year, it's $500 to $1,000. After that, it's $1,000 to $1,500 for each violation in the same timeframe.
