I understand the media has soured many on Smith but he's much better than Gabbert. Much better. Once again, he is much close as a prospect to RG3 than he is to Gabbert. He is a legit extremely talented passer and a very talented QB. He is not RG3 or Luck but he could put up better numbers. Again, he is much better than Gabbert.

yeah, gabbert is just a dude i picked to make a point. gabbert is probably the worst qb i seen in a while. his pocket presence makes sanchez look like.. a qb with good pocket presence. :youngsabo:

Im in all football threads in general :smugbiden:

this thread at some point hit close home to my firm belief that qb position is overrated and overstated, and the value of team in general is severely underrated.... so I had to join in :skip:

we'll have to see about rex. i mean, if he survived last year's debacle and tanny getting fired.. i just don't see woody firing rex unless it's like a 2 win season.

i actually think sanchez was/is a huge reason for the locker room divide. rex's adamant backing of sanchez didn't help.. but at this point, i think any able qb, whether it's garrard or geno, will help the locker room.

i definitely think the importance of qb has grown significantly the last few years. i'm not a guy that thinks it's all about the qb. i actually love the style of football the jets were going for.. the one that the niners and seahawks have taken to another level. stout defense, good running game.. but the thing that put them both over the top was adding in a qb that can put up points.

When you have to build your team to hide your Qb's flaws that just means your QB aint that good. But with that being said, they should keep Sanchez until they no exactly what they have in Geno.
Please explain how releasing his best WR, RB and OL helped hide his flaws

I been arguing about this with Jets fans since last year. They completely stripped a young QB coming off a 26TD season of any talent around him, gave him a big contract a complete dunce as an OC and the most polarizing player in sports as his backup and Jets fans expected better?

Perhaps. But his play improved each year. 1st 3 years, 2 AFC championship game appearances...3rd year threw 26 TDs. Why get rid of Plexico...not replace Ladanian, replace an OK OC with a complete moron and then get Tebow? C'mon man...it just doesn't make any sense. I just don't see how you completely give up on a QB after year 3 but then sign him to a big ass contract and put him in the worst situation. I don't get it. Sanchez gets the brunt of all Jet fans frustrations even though he's just a small part of the problem.

Jets have proven they have no fukking clue how to groom a QB. Yet Jets fans are extatic that they got a new QB. They still haven't given him ANY weapons but somehow Geno will overcome all of this and outplay Sanchez. :why:

exactly man...and while it may not be hard to outplay sanchez at this point (dude seems to be psychologically broken anyhow), its an endless cycle until a team knows how to groom a qb...or an elite talent falls into their lap (which is quite unlikely) :manny:

This whole thing about getting Tebow is a load of bullshyt. First of all, you don't even think Tebow's a real QB, yet getting him was supposed to scare Fez? The big criticism was that Fez was so coddled since Brunell was his backup and could never overtake him. Then they go get Tebow to serve as competition and that was supposed to mess Fez up mentally even though Jets fans hated Tebow too? In other words, Fez can't handle competition even if it's competition he can conceivably beat out. So why want someone like that leading your team?

as for improving every year

year 1 turnovers (picks and fumbles lost: ) 23
year 2: 14
year 3: 26
year 4: 26

what improvement? To this day he continues to do the same shyt that he always does that screws him up in games.

he was worse in year three than year two. the turnovers were a huge, huge problem in the third season.

And he wasnt very good year two either....but Ive watched every Sanchez start and you could see the wheels really coming off in year 3.

The last game of the season in Miami was an embarrassment..he threw two picks to defensive tackles.

there is probably some truth to this, but I do like Morniwheg....

problem is rex still thinks its the 70's....the HC and the QB have to be on the same page....rex doesnt care about the qb

The whole "he has no weapons" is overstated.

Kerley and Hill are 2 WR's drafted in the last 3 years. Holmes was someone they overpaid to keep around. This offseason they signed 2 new RB's as a dual rushing attack (and they're hoping that they're talented players simply stuck behind other teams' QB's. Happens a lot).

The only thing they didn't address was TE (and losing Keller means nothing) and the depth beyond it in case guys go down, which was a product of Tanny trading up all the time and a failure to find gems late.

Whether you like their weapons or not is a different story, but they did try to address some of these issues now and in the past.

I remember that game. Those weren't even picks to Starks. Those were handoffs.
