Maybe an extreme example, but come on man, ya'll know Stevie can't sing, don't let your fandom and the fact that he's a bonafide legend get in the way here. Unlike most muthafukkas that can't sing, he does have a unique voice and perfect pitch working in his favor. Stevie ain't never been able to carry a tune though, you ever heard him sing someone else's song? Or seen the frustrated look on people face when they try to perform alongside him and he change key in the middle of a phrase?

I agree with you, he's a master vocalist, mostly because like I said, he has perfect pitch. But being a vocalist is a studio skill and has nothing to do with performance. He's not the best singer though, he's all over the place when he performs live, and its not just in recent times, even back in the day he'd be all over the place. Just like you though, I love his songs, he's definitely a top 10 song writer of all time, and I love his albums. I do not love him live though, that's all.

So he can't sing, but he does have perfect pitch, but he can't carry a tune? Do you understand what ur saying in music terms? You do realize that there was no auto-tune in the old days? It was one take. If someone hit a wrong key, or missed a drum beat, they had to start over. You had to have talent.
