it's only on The Coli were people pretend like Vol 3 wasn't a decent release. The Coli will big up wack albums like AG then pretend like Vol 3 is weak :mjlol:

Vol 3 isn't great. Alot of dud tracks. But the great tracks are GREAT. And yes, Hov was still spitting that acid.

Whereas you compare it to AG that has no stand out tracks outside of Ignorant shyt, and none of them compare to the highlights off Vol 3

It was always sort of weak to me. RD, Vol. 1, and Vol. 2 are exponentially better albums.

I kinda agree with you, especially when it comes to Vol 2. But then again, I don't think Jay-Z has a great album top to bottom. There's always 'meh' tracks in all his albums.

He's like Redman, except he lasted longer. Redman doesn't really have one uber-classic album but he always had 3 or 4 classic tracks per album. That was his consistency.

Jay-Z never had a blindingly brilliant album, but he dropped great tracks every year from 1996 to 2004 (Black Album). Which is remarkable.

well obviously rd = his best
vol. 2 second best to me and i know nikkas don't like that album now but to me it's still the shyt
vol. 3 his 3rd best in terms of just lyrically but on the production side of things, blueprint wins even though he was slackin' on the blueprint lyrically and not horribly but he was spittin' as sharp as he once on vol. 3 which was the album before the blueprint

and outside of a select few songs, i don't care for vol. 1. never did

I always thought Vol. 1 was the best from a lyrical standpoint, he hit his peak on that one. His last verse on Streets Is Watching and his verses on Lucky Me in my opinion are in his top 5 best he ever spit. There are some classics on Vol. 3 but the album as a whole was underwhelming to me, but I'd much rather listen to it than some of his recent stuff, unfortunately.

vol. 1 never impressed me like that, outside of the intro, imaginary players, where i'm from, who you wit and friend or foe 98'
but i respect your opinion
