Most underrated Jay album.the best of the Volume albums. The album was Jay's most street album. A lot of gritty tracks. Nowhere near as glossy/poppy as Volume 1 and 2.

The album's direction was more thuggish than the other two...The intro/Outro, Dopeman, So Ghetto, There's Been A Murder, Come Get Me, NYMP, It's Hot.

Even the club joints were dope...Big Pimpin, Snoopy Track, the joint with Mariah.

preach, brother. preach
now, i like vol. 2 but i like vol. 2 and vol 3 for different reasons and both are for what you just said

vol. 2 = glossy and clean; which i fukked with
vol. 3 = more gritty and street which i fukked with

"do it again" was that street/gritty club banger :wow:

In NY we were blessed with the bootleg a month before release then he changed up some songs. Bootleg >retail version

The bootleg version ended up actually being the european version. I was in Bosnia when it dropped and thats the version that I bought but when I cam to the states I noticed the US version was different. I think that was the original intention and we were just blessed with the European versions leak first.

This is his worst of the Volumes imo but still a great album. How quickly people forget that the only wack project Jay released in between RD and TBA was BP2, and mainly because that had a lot of filler. Vols 1-3 all great, especially the first. Dynasty underrated as all hell. The other albums speak for themselves, classics.

Oh and whoever called American Gangster bad....kill yourself.

Jay has a hell of a resume in general. I go on Jay-Z listening sprees sometimes where I just bump his catalog only, and it doesnt get old.

Cuz maybe it's not good to people?

I mean seriously stans, there has been a thread regarding every criticized Jay-Z album being "underrated" or "actually dope". Cmon with the stanism.

It has very dope tracks but overall it's not that good. It is what it is. I do share the opinion that Vol. 1 was his 2nd best. But people regard Vol. 2 higher probably cuz of it's popularity, which
is always related to people's nostalgia and all that shyt. Vol. 2 dope tho, but IMO not better than Vol. 1.

Vol 3? Not to much. KC? BP2? Not so much. So what yall want is for everybody to say - "every single thing Jay-Z put out is a classic gem!"?

IMO, i know im gonna catch flack for this, but i've always felt Blueprint is HELLA overrated. Extremely. It's a solid record but not more than that. Dope production of course
but the songs weren't that dope. But then when you count in the Nas shyt too and etc, goes back to nostalgia for most.

If anything i feel Black Album & American Gangster are very slept on gems actually. He was lyrically sharp on em and had more relevant things to say & had a cohesive story thruout. But thats just IMO.

We don't have to big up Jays old shyt to know how dope he was. Everyone already knows this except the haters and the uneducated.

Come and get me is one of my favorite Jay-z joints. Few street joints sound as real.

vol. 1 never impressed me like that, outside of the intro, imaginary players, where i'm from, who you wit and friend or foe 98'
but i respect your opinion
Real Nikkaz, You Must Love Me, (one of Jigga's most emotive introspective tracks), Lucky Me, Streets is Watching? City is Mine is classic Jigga lyrically.

The only really shytty tracks on the album are Sunshine and I Know What Girls Like :scusthov:

To me Vol. 1 hands down best Volume album and aged the best.
