I made a thread a few weeks ago asking if pac was seen as a west coast rapper before death row, like snoop, dre, and cube. And the majority of y'all said yes. I still am not sure about that. I don't remember folks referring to pac as a west coast rapper before death row. When people brought up snoop, cube, dre, eazy etc, they will start off with, "west coast rapper", or "la based rapper, snoop dogg". They didn't do that with pac pre death row from what i can remember. He was kinda just there

Exactly this. He was in two of the most iconic hip hop movies that was set in New York, juice and above the rim. Doubt you would've saw snoop in a New York movie like that back then without sticking out. Pac fit right in tho.

Maino is a Bed Stuy nikka who got in the game via Lil Kim so he probably doesn’t like Pac for obvious reasons. I’ve seen plenty BK nikkas shyt on Pac when he comes up. A lot of older NY nikkas still resent Pac but at the end of the day he is from here. His whole career before Death Row was in NY
