There’s a Birkin bag that sold for 2.9 million. Reality is the average person doesn’t even have access to an authentic Hermès Birkin bag so the fact that a rapper like Saweetie is shaming people for not having one shows how low her mindset is. There’s only a set amount of Hermès Birkin bags that are in production for a year - the waitlist is in the thousands. A plain Birkin starts at $9,000 with no adornments, depending on the leather, average price is $40,000 and up. Those paying $20,000 or less either have a knock off or a pre-owned bag. Anyone buying a Birkin off of eBay - it’s a fugazi or an early 2000s version. The authentic Birkins are only available to exclusive buyers not through retail and not online. This whole debate is comical bc you need to be a double digit millionaire to even get on the waitlist for Birkins which most people don’t have exclusive access to anyway. People are waking around with 2002 bags acting like they have it like that.
