Anthony Davis is signing a deal worth 5/145M.

That's superstar money.

Bulls and Spurs got two of the best 2 way players in the league for 90 million...both Butler and Kawhi are a few years away from their PRIMES...

Meanwhile the Raptors are forced to give Carroll 2/3rds of that just to try and get out the first round...
see this is where I'm lost, I don't see either improving that much on offense

How is Leonard not going to improve with Duncan retiring soon, Manu retiring soon, and Parker getting slower and pulling his hamstring by the minute?

How is Jimmy not going to improve under a coach who's offense is much better and faster than that stall ball Thibs was running...?

Both of these dudes are on the cusp of being 20 point a night guys...that is pretty good seeing as how both will have to defend probably 3 positions a night at a high clip...

Even worse for Jimmy cause he don't have a Danny Green caliber defender helping him on the defensive end...

See people gotta realize it's hard to wait when you've got that much money on the table in your face.

I'm glad he didn't wait until 2016 to get paid. He's young enough to get another big contract in his life
.

He should also thank God that Thibs isn't around anymore and actively trying to run him into the ground.

I agree. he already took a risk by not taking a deal last year. you CANNOT take that kinda risk again when you've got damn near $100M guarunteed on your plate.

the difference in lifestyle between a $95M contract and a $108M contract is negligable.

anthony davis is getting that kinda money cuz he's getting the drose max deal starting in 2016/2017. and that's due to him making all nba a couple of times and making multiple all star teams. most players don't qualify for that.

A Designated Player may be eligible to earn 30% of the salary cap (rather than the standard 25%) if he passes certain criteria. To be eligible, the player must be voted to start in two All-Star Games, or be named to an All-NBA Team twice (at any level), or be named MVP. Officially titled the "5th Year 30% Max Criteria"[2] it has been dubbed (and is more commonly known as) the "Derrick Rose Rule" after the 2011 MVP,[13] due to the fact that when the criterion was introduced, Rose was the only player in the NBA eligible to sign the maximum extension (due to his MVP award).[14] The reasoning for the rule is to suitably reward players being extended off of their rookie contract who are considered to be of a higher "caliber" than their peers, without restricting them to the lower (25%) salary level.[15] A player may sign a "5th Year, 30% Max" contract before the final year of his rookie contract and before fulfilling the criteria needed to receive the 30% salary grade. Should the player fail to fulfil the criteria before the start of his Designated Player contract, he will receive the standard five year, 25% Designated Player contract. James Harden of the Houston Rockets had such a clause in his contract extension, but failed to meet the criteria.[16] The only player in the NBA who was attempting to qualify for a full 30% contract in 2013–14 was Paul George, who signed a provisional 30%/5 year contract in September 2013. George, who had made the All-NBA third team in 2012-13,[17] qualified by again making the All-NBA third team.[18]
