now prince did release sign o the times after he broke up the revolution however that album was already in the works before he fired wendy and lisa and a lot of those songs dated back a few years so he had shyt on deck already. but after that album prince started a slow decline with his artistry and slowly new jack swing became the new cool thing and prince while still prince was more of yesterday news in a way when you had guys like bobby brown with don't be cruel, new edition with heartbreak, keith sweat, al b. sure, guy, babyface etc all takin' over

sure, prince is a legend and continued to have a career and in regards to wendy and lisa they were always goin' to be the musicians in his band and that's that. but you have to wonder, just how important and influential they really were to him (and they were because where he was limited in music and lookin' for new shyt to be inspired to, they came in and offered ideas and even put him onto some music) because once they were shown the door, there was a change in his music and those years of prince crankin' out straight masterpieces came to a halt. sure, he had hits post revolution but not like he had with them :whew:

i was just listenin' to this song of wendy and lisa's and was thinkin' bout this :yeshrug:

Why did the revolution break up?

typical bullshyt; egos, pride, envy and prince was goin' out with wendy melvoin's sister susannah and fukkin' around on her because he was still messin' around with other women and quite naturally wendy was gettin' tired of bein' caught up in the middle of all of that between her bandleader/friend and then her sister. so it was a combination of bunch of different things that led up to that moment

also prince wanted to go back to the days of when he did the vast majority of the work; not that he didn't with wendy and lisa but when they came into the fold it was more of a collaborative thing then it had ever been for him. the 3 of them fed off of each other with musical ideas and knowledge

Great post. Gotta admit that Wendy and Lisa were def talented and post revolution Prince lacked something. Definitely preferred Revolution era to NPG era and beyond. always in my dreams is my favorite Wendy and Lisa joint:

Prince's best years will always be those Revolution years... so I defnitely think they played a part. He's a genius all by himself, I just think the collaborating with Wendy & Lisa made the music come together and really gave Prince that sound that made them all big stars. There is a noticeable change after the Sign O The Times album, and most of his early-90s stuff is... eh.
