People romanticize the past so much they act like there isn't footage available of these games

That's the 4th video of the era we've posted showing a lack of physicality. I posted 3 different Finals games showing Bird in 3 different series, none of which had physical defense. Why haven't they responded? Why can't then counter and show us where the physicality is?

JJ is the typical smug analytical Cac

Dude is terrible

You're talking about a player who has 12,000 career points and is Top-20 all-time in NBA threes as if he's you. :dead:

Reddikk has scored more points in the NBA than Kawhi Leonard or Gilbert Arenas, and made more threes than Kevin Durant or Kobe Bryant, but to you he's just a "cac" who doesn't have enough NBA experience to talk about the game.

It's not like Reddikk is even all that far removed from Bird's era. Reddikk played against guys who were on the court with Larry Bird.

With the title on the line, they threw the ball into KAJ. Laimbeer did foul him. Veteran superstar Cap was likely to get the call, and dirty ass Laimbeer was not going to the benefit of the doubt.

High IQ play run by the Lakers, and KAJ knocked down two clutch free throws.

Pistons embraced being the Raiders of the NBA/ Bad Boys. Well, it's a package deal when your brand of defense reflects that image, can't bytch about whistles/calls.

*My memory told me that it was a phantom call, but in retrospect, it was a foul. Watch it again.

Not only is that not a foul, but Kareem traveled. This is y’all’s tough era?

Always surprised that people run with humor and jokes here instead of sticking to the topic.
WTF are you talking about? You haven’t addressed the topic. Kareem travels and then gets a soft touch foul in crunch time of a Finals elimination game. This isn’t just any game. A title was on the line.

This y’all’s tough era?

"In 1988, when we got Detroit and Kareem hit that phantom sky hook foul, he had to make the two free throws." - Pat Riley

There's no foul there. The only contact is when Laimbeer's almost straight-up arm is hit by Kareem's off arm as Kareem purposely sticks out the elbow to try to create separation. Laimbeer can't be fouling Kareem's off arm when Kareem's the one who initiated the contact.

You saw the bodycheck by Laimbeer correct?

Kareem establishes post position for space , and steps back from that position to go into his move. Defender jumps forward and bodychecks him.
You can watch this play 10 times and you will see the same thing all ten times.

If you think the physicality of today's game is anywhere close to the 80's you should quit discussing basketball

Here are Larry Bird Finals games from 3 different years:

Show me where you see Larry Bird subjected to physicality that is light years beyond today's game. The videos are right there in front of you.

I'll be waiting.

Who said they were elite? keep up bro.... JJ is saying Curry is being pulled and pushed clearly being fouled not getting the whistle other superstars get and still avg 30 a game.
fukk outta here c00n the shyt says "more physical defense" it doesnt say getting calls or being fouled

just like I said with the handchecking, which is common knowledge.... you'd be an idiot to even compare eras or rules to begin with
nikkas been holding off ball shooters and people cutting for decades

the whole entire point of the thread is dumb from playstyles not matching, to era's not being the same, to rules changing between 30 years

you compare the same shyt to Reggie Miller and its basically identical. Comparing Isolation scoring forward like Bird, Melo etc to offball guard running behind screens isnt even close to the same topic. All them dudes are getting held coming out of sets, even bench players are getting held. Pistons, Rodman, Kobe, Lebron, Melo, 80s, 90s, 2000s, all them cats were holding.

We're gonna pretend Iverson, Nash, basically any undersized dude wasnt getting pushed and pulled now? You can post examples of Nash and Iverson getting ragdolled and injured across the court

I’m sick of these old nikkas always acting like they played in a rugby league. Only team that was bout that life was Zeke Pistons and they cried like hoes about them and the league started protecting the players more. These old school brehs need to stop

people are mad at JJ without even listening to what he was saying. He was talking specifically about the difference between how teams defend 3 point shooters now and how they defended shooters back in the 80s.
