to everyone in the struggle. I recently found a job after having over 2 years experience in sales and my college degree, I was getting hit with $30K base and commission. I was I was getting that when I got my first job outta college. I was just getting my networking down too.

I also work in television in NYC, a lot of places are consolidating or eliminating positions to save money. They are changing fulltime positions to freelance, so they won't have to give benefits. Right before I graduated college a friend who got a job for this local cable news station where he was interning, reached out and I gave him my resume. I'm making roughly 32k a year, not including overtime. But I get holiday pay, medical, and 401k. I had been looking for a new job for a while because there are places that will pay double for what I do, but the problem is that a lot TV jobs are mostly about networking. I recently got a freelance job for a national news network, it pays a whole lot more but the hours may vary. I switched to part time at my old job to keep the benefits, sacrificing my weekends. I'm also enrolled in an online graduate business management just in case shyt doesn't work out with this media shyt.

That's a thread we made in HL to try to help with this stuff. I also think it would be great if people would post job openings in there when they find out what people are interested in. I mean, we all have linkedin so that should provide at least a few suggestions.

I know a lot of you don't frequent HL, but I think it'd be a good thing and the thread is in one of the upped threads so you would never have to struggle to find it. Whereas this is probably going off the first page soon. Good luck.

Tailor your resume to match the job you're applying for. now don't lie but look for keywords from your previous experience to match what their currently looking for. That will at least get you a phone interview. If you're lucky to get a f2f interview go in there prepared and leave the interviewers.

Only real skill I have is artistic ability (I draw my own comic/manga, plus I can draw pretty much anything in front of me, not to mention I can write stories and scripts as well)...but no ones looking for that...I make a few bucks every now and then off of drawing and illustrating, but nothing substantial. People be wanting graphics more often (which I can also do, but to a lot lesser degree. I'm more of the pencil/pen paper type of guy)...idk maybe I should just practice more graphic shyt once I get a new laptop...

Darkhorse even sells erotica... it's worth a try, seeing as how you send you wrote scripts, you can convert those into limited series (30 Days of Night), with some sketches

How do you do this?

Man if you're really into art like that you should research the guys that draw for Disney, Pixar, television(Simpsons, Spongebob, kids cartoons, etc), etc. Learn the path that made them get to where they're at and follow it. Sounds like you got a passion at it plus you tryin' to get paid

They make more than that. I work behind the scenes in the control rooms. Reporters move around alot especially in nyc. This biz is very competitive

I actually went to animation school for 3 years and learned quite a bit about that;NOT what I'm trying to do, and definitely not worth it (that's a whoops 'bother discussion though). What I really want to so is take the anime approach (start off as a comic, maybe someone will want to animate it). I'm positive it would make a good show, but I suppose I just have to meet the right people. It's already in my homies magazine, but it's hard as fukk for me to get feedback ever since he had to start charging for it....
