Democrats knew he was aging and in decline compared to how he was in 2016.
He had an opportunity to get his dream of being president and then step down half way through as the guy who beat trump, got people treatment for the virus that killed so many, and signed off on policies to protect people from the worst of the pandemic.
He could've quietly retired into the background in 2022 and been an advisor. He would've had less stress and treated the cancer earlier.
Instead his ego has doomed thousands and possibly millions. This attitude is a virus that has infested the democratic party. Whether it's Ruth Ginsburg not stepping down while Obama was in office, or Diane Feinstein still continuing to work despite the fact she couldnt even finish her sentences, or Jerry Connolly who said it was "my turn" when asked why he should have the congressional leadership position over a younger, better known democrat despite the fact he had been diagnosed with cancer.
This ego has ruined these people's lives and will ruin our lives as the republicans continue to unleash horrors that they constantly reassured us they never would be able to.
I'm not the kind of person to say something cruel when I could say nothing at all so I'm going to sum it up:
It's a shame that he chose work over his family. I hope in whatever time he has left, he chooses to prioritize his and his family's privacy and give them at least whatever amount of time he has left.

Biden had no business running for President in 2024. Even without the knowledge of the cancer diagnosis, it was obvious he wasn't going to be able to finish another 4 years. That party badly needed a primary to debate policies and allow new leadership to emerge.
