He could have had a strict border like Trump and Fox would still be fear mongering. There would still be ever present "caravans" of brown people arriving any minute now.

And while our inflation situation was much better than the rest of the west (at the time) it still was too high for Americans. And by November 2024, inflation was declining but just not enough.
