I personally have been saying this on the coli for YEARS...
Not voting is not going to get politicians to do a motherfukking thing for you. We were better off voting in record numbers, because that's when they start caring..
Latins recognized this.. Nobody gave two fukks about them in the 80s, 90s, 00s... But they started voting and building their numbers... It made their vote matter even more. And now both sides are trying to win them over, while you no longer here a fukking thing about black people. We right down at the bottom with the Asians and Middle Easterners, as people they don't even bother to bring up

It has nothing to do with voting per se. It's about their numbers.
Latinos are now the number 1 minority. The political focus is progressively gonna shift toward them. The growing number of Latinos will have important socio-economic ramifications in the next decades.

It's a combination of both.. I don't either side would give two fukks, if they weren't voting. If they went on a national "We ain't voting" tour, best believe they'd come right back to us begging.
I'm not saying it's not a numbers game.. But they fully believe the latins gonna come out and vote.. Both sides pretty much given up on us.. Why I think it's not ONLY numbers... We still have 40 million black people in America. That can swing ANY election with those numbers. But they don't even care to mention us like we don't even matter
It would take NO effort for them to say "Latins and blacks"..... but they leave us out every time. Can't even talk about our problems without someone saying "immigrant" or "latino" in the mix.. They don't even say minorities, let alone black people...

I watched the debate in it's entirety, and Pete Buttigieg was the only candidate to answer the question about reparations for ADOS. I DID NOT LIKE/AGREE with his answer, but at least answered it directly. He sure did say that we should "compensate the families broken up at the border", though!
Joe Biden straight up avoided the question (he was asked directly) and decided to discuss immigration instead. He could have still answered the question, "yes" or "no", "Do you support reparations for ADOS?".
The subject was then changed, and no other candidate brought up Reparations for ADOS again. No candidate decided to bring it up again, but they sure were quick to make sure that they had the chance to speak on every other topic they felt was important or would get them elected.
They all (except Buttigieg) avoided the question and changed the subject on some......

This. Joe was stumbling all over himself. Quite frankly, latinos are a bigger voting base than blacks. It's a sad story really. This is why black folk need to get on the same damn page instead of fighting each other and working backwards. Need to show that black folk have enough influence to the point where politicians will pander to us. Black folk getting thrown in as POC when it should just be about policies strictly to help black folk. Completely co-opted.

you just said the same thing I did, which is that he did not answer the reparations question, he answered the prior immigration question. whether or not you like that he ignored the question, you should be able to admit that the headline that when asked about reparations, he said latinos should get them, is misleading.
and yes, i will always vote for democrats over republican. especially ones like trump. one party tries to help and sometimes fukks it up. one party is actively trying to harm our community. stop letting perfect be the enemy of good. i’ll take incremental change over going backwards off principle.
