Budden has always had some weaker production, so it's nice that he's using Araab. This type of beat works well for Joey's 4 minute long dear diary verses.
This.
As terrible as that Shady album was, the debut wasn't much better. For all their talent, the shyt was boring. Bland battle bars over mediocre beats.
Yep. The first album sounded like they just took a bunch of songs they had recorded and threw them together. It was basically a mix-tape released as an "album." But yeah it was better than Our House, one of the worst releases to ever come out of Shady, which says a lot.
thier new shyt sounds dope tbh
I think having Just Blaze in their corner will help them, for sure. That last House Rules mixtape was their best release as a group IMO. They need to do more of that. Not make every joint on their album just repetitive 16s from each member. Some of the production on House Rules wasn't even that great but it was a better listen than their albums because they gave Crooked a solo joint, they gave Royce a solo, they gave Budden a solo. They had a joints with just 2 members. Joints with 3.
That's such a better gameplan. Still, I think they work best when they do ciphers now and then or drop tracks here and there. I don't think I'll ever enjoy an entire album. And it's not even a knock on them. I appreciate what they do and like it in small doses but no one should ever be surprised that Royce, Budden, Ortiz, and Crooked have a hard time making an enjoyable full length album.
I'm really surprised they've been able to last as a group this long to be honest.
