No one is saying he should win it but he definitely deserves to be in the conversation especially if the Bengals make it to the playoffs. He might finish the season with 5000 passing yards and 45+ passing TDs.He's having a great year, but that win yesterday was the first one the Bengals have had against a winning team.
There are levels to this....MVP should be in the following order:I think so. Career year for him too. Good for him.
I've been the only one consistently saying for two years he's in the same class as Allen and Lamar. Eye test proves all the physical traits, he's got the stats...

More importantly though, he's more consistent than both those guys are in the playoffs. Went into Allen's house and knocked em down. He's the only one of the 3 who has beaten Mahomes in the postseason----->and he's the ONLY one of the 3 who ALWAYS comes to play when he plays KC...
Middlekauff has my favorite football podcast and he always says, inside the building the Chiefs acknowledge that Allen is the one of the three that they dont "fear", but keep them awake at night. I have no reason to think he's lying, but I watch the games too, I gotta disagree with him and them if that's the case. Cincy as a team always plays KC tight and Burrow comes ready to ball when he sees the Chiefs...
He's finishing a full season and avoided injury this year for just the third time in his 5 years. When he's healthy, he's consistently gotten better. I don't truly think you can go wrong with either Allen, Burrow, or Lamar as your guy for a regular season, they are all elite and Burrow is yet again overcoming a bad defense and bad offensive line and still keeping his team playoff viable. What I will say is that the carry job Allen has done with mid skill talent this year, which Lamar has done before as well, is a challenge Burrow hasn't yet been faced with, as he's always had elite receivers...
But bad run game. Bad defense. Bad o-line. Mid coach. And his team is still in playoff contention. Ain't No Burrow "lovefest". He's an outstanding quarterback...
There's Mahomes here....
And about two steps behind are the other 3 guys. They don't have the championships to match but when one of them gets one it'll elevate them...
Bengals | Bills | Chiefs | Ravens | |
Allen (46) | 10-6 | 12-3 | 8-8 | 16-0 |
Burrow (27) | 8-8 | 6-10 | 2-14 | 11-5 |
Jackson (39) | 10-6 | 8-8 | 10-6 | 11-5 |
Mahomes (50) | 10-6 | 10-6 | 15-1 | 15-1 |
What's the logic or rationale?
Bengals Bills Chiefs Ravens Allen (46) 10-6 12-3 8-8 16-0 Burrow (27) 8-8 6-10 2-14 11-5 Jackson (39) 10-6 8-8 10-6 11-5 Mahomes (50) 10-6 10-6 15-1 15-1
Here's something I just made up, but it's how many wins I think each qb could get on the teams of the other "elite" quarterbacks. I just went through it quickly, I could justify every choice, but the long and short of it, I got Marhomes ever so slightly ahead of Allen, Allen modestly ahead of Jackson, and all of them head and shoulders above Burrow. Pretty high when I made this up and filled it out, so I can be talked out of any of my ratings.
If that’s the case, then why hasn’t Tua been more successful? What was the Ravens weakness earlier this season?
Pass defense, mainly defending elite WR1
Having 2 WR1s is a cheat code that's difficult for any team to defend against. It's not a fear of Joe Burrow. It's a fear of Chase + Higgins.
Chase/Higgins with any top 10 team, it'll be the same type of "fear"
Mahomes, Lamar, Allen with Chase+Higgins would be more difficult for opposing teams to defend.
Fear factor to me comes from the lens of defensive coordinators and defensive units...Mahomes/Lamar/Allen are the most difficult QBs to defend against
This doesn't make any sense. Burrow wouldn't be 2-14 with that Chiefs roster, coaching, and front office. He's too great a player...
