Outside of war/strikes/pandemic, no pro sports league has ever shortened the season, so this is a pipe dream. The players don't want it and the owners don't want it.

And the only reason there are 17 Regular Season games is because it was a tradeoff for shortening the Preseason to 3 games.

Rodgers was bad luck on a routine tackle.

Watson and Richardson were hurt on tackles while running.

The protections don't extend outside the pocket or on non contact injuries. No one got hurt on a play that would warrant a flag.
