Dude's concern over legalization, from his mouth are, access to underaged kids and driving under the influence.

Regarding the quote from OP from the article:

“If you smelled [marijuana] in a car, you could search a car,” Kennedy said. “When it became decriminalized, you couldn’t do that.”

Klein later argued the change was probably for the good, given the racial disparities that exist in the legal system’s treatment of marijuana, which Kennedy conceded was a good point. Another criminal justice concern Kennedy expressed was the lack of an admissible roadside test to determine whether a driver is operating under the influence of marijuana, which he said would be an increased threat with more widespread usage.

Dude even supports the Mass legalization bill.

He's a square and an ex DA. There are better questions to ask if we're being honest.

This is a guilt-inspired answer, not his genuine belief.

He is not stupid and is aware of the racial disparities of how warrantless searches are enacted typically on POC under false pretenses of drug possession. No doubt he was aware before this interview yet despite that, this is still a concern for him. It's telling.

Also finally, the hand wringing related to access to kids and DUI is no different than alcohol when you really get down to it. In fact studies show dui while drunk is noticeably worse and our society has laws and programs to deter it .Fine you want to make sure legislation accounts for that but this isnt the first time I've seen a politician use it as a stalling tactic to not state where they stand. It's not a difficult problem to solve and we have models with other controlled substances to follow. Which is why its probably more of a false concern to stall coming down on the issue than a genuine concern.

So you wanna free illegal immigrants so cops can have more people to harass?

These a$$holes don't want the war on drugs to end, huh? Cuz, a stable mexico means less illegal immigration, so that's bad for business.

That is some cac shyt.

How you gonna ROFL with a hollow back?
I might be the biggest Camelot Stan on this sight. I have a framed picture of the 3 brothers in my office. Can’t ride with this under any circumstances! This is VERY disappointing, but I do hold the right to come back if he changes his views, I am older than him and I change my views all the fukking time, as I learn more about issues and how they affect people specifically. I’m not gonna throw him to the bushes all the way yet, he does have a lot of liberal views that I am behind, but legal marijuana affects my wife and my life soooo much. My wife is on enough opioids to kill a horse, oxy, fentynal, all of that, but the gas is the only thing that dulls the pain and helps her eat. She had been in the hospital/rehab for the past three months, and she has lost 25 lbs, her transplant dr is worried, and I just started to take her out to smoke, and she is finally starting to put weight back on.
Obviously, the success of Kennedy is not paramount to me, but it is super disappointing to see his stance on this, and hope he gets better informed, I would like to see him take a leadership role in the future.

"And we should lower the drinking age, but only for Jameson. Filthy protestant whisky shall be banned. Now excuse me, I must return to my yacht where Chris Matthews is waiting to blow me."
