I'm trying to ignore what everyone is saying and not let it affect me. But anyone in here interested in having a round table where we go track by track and break down how we feel about the album...I would then post it up on the front page like an album review.

Though, I don't know when this is officially supposed to drop so I'm not going to post up a review of a leak until it officially comes out.

 am down for this

yea, I'd be down for this too.

I'm absolutely interested!

Dope idea....I'm down

All right, so when would be a good time for everyone and what is the official release date for the album. I don't even have it yet by the way so that'll need to happen too.

Budden just seems to be a polarizing figure. People either love him or they hate him, rarely are folks in between. So a lot of it comes down to perception.

Fans of Budden love that mood muzik shyt, detractors say his music is depressing.

He makes an album filled with "accessible" music consisting of introspective shyt he's known for, mainstream singles, and some girl songs. Some people are mad that it's not all mood muzik, others commend him for mixing it up and being versatile in terms of subject matter, and a small contingent says it's apparently "too versatile" and shows that Budden lacked direction and didn't really know where he wanted this album to go, and it didn't have an identity.

Can't satisfy everyone.

see once you realize that there are fans of his music and not him, youll realize why those people want specific type of music from him.

like personally, Im not interested in his mainstream stuff at all. I wanted some of that escape route/mm4.5 stuff

Listening to this now, I see where @Roxx the King and @Billy Ocean are coming from.

The lyrics aren't bad at all, but you can tell this is an album that with a bigger budget, you already know would be on it. I'm listening to Tell Him Somethin thinking "Trey Songz was too busy huh?"

This album drags near the end and you can mix this with some of those songs from A Loose Quarter and get a better cohesive project.

I agree to a certain point. Escape Route is arguably the best Budden project in my eyes (minus the sound quality), I too prefer the "mood muzik" Budden. But I just knew that wasn't realistic this time around so I didn't have those expectations. But I think he had enough stuff on here that catered to that fanbase. Dude is basically a mainstream rapper these days in terms of Twitter following, being signed to Em, having a TV show, etc. so I knew going in that it was gonna be a more mainstream album. Especially when I heard Loose Quarter and songs like More of Me, Momma Said, etc. were on there. Because those songs were certainly album quality (and up to par with anything on NLL) but he probably just recorded too many emo tracks and couldn't put them all on the album.

So is this vintage Budden in terms of 15 straight tracks of introspective rap? Nah. But as much as I would love to hear that, you and I are in the minority in terms of preferring to hear that for an entire project, so he had to tone it down and cater to the masses. I think he did a good job with the versatility. There's something on here for everyone.

The double standards are something else though, man. Budden makes "NBA" or "Top Of The World" and he's forcing it and selling out with commercial garbage, but Life Is Good had shyt like Summer On Smash and Reach Out and people still were calling it a classic and shyt. The "Album of 2012" according to most on here had shyt like Bye Baby and Cherry Wine (both great songs), but when Budden has songs about girls it's "awwww man, Budden had like 3 girl songs, fukk that, this is wack".

oh no doubt, but thats more because nas stans are often actually nas stans and like all of his music just because its him, not the music itself...

I feel what youre sayin...this album just aint for me. Ive actually missed out on the loose quarter, maybe Ill like that. finna check it out right now.
